i was once interested in becoming a poker dealer, but do you guys think poker dealing is a coming to an end? with technology the way it is i just sense that a human passing out cards is behind us already. its unfortunate that people have to lose jobs, but machines might take over. Indiana has no casinos remaining with human poker dealers, its all the virtual dealing tables. i personally have never tried them, and i don't really like the idea. i think poker is meant for human dealers and i would feel uncomfortable without one, unless its behind a computer ofocurse.
i would just like to add i no nothing about the actual statistics of computerized dealers vs human dealers, just seeing it in my area.

I think dealers will be around for a long while, still a lot of people want real cards when playing live.

I think as long as there's poker in casinos there'll be demand for live poker dealers.

My local casino tried to introduce the automated / digital tables alongside live dealers but they never took off, and last I heard they got rid of them altogether, going back to 100% live dealers.

At the end of the day it'll all be about demand from players. The casino might not need to pay dealers to run a digital table, but the table costs a lot more to buy and if players favour live dealer tables over digital ones then the digital tables don't make financial sense for the casino.

I really dont think they are going away in our lifetime. Whats the point of going to the casino to play a digital table? Might as well stay home and play.

I too think that live dealers will be around for a long time. Part of the attraction in going to a casino, is to have a live dealer, real cards, etc. Automated tables would definitely not ring my bell.

I agree with everyone else. Live poker needs live dealers and they are not going anywhere. Some casinos might try it but they'll soon see it's not working. Wouldn't robot dealers also mean the end of actual chips and cards as well? Everything would be played via computers? I just don't see that happening.

So this isn't something that casinos might try in the future - it's a real thing that's already been in existence for over a decade. And yes they replace everything with computers, including chips and cards.

Here's a CardsChat member reviewing one of the tables back in 2009: https://www.cardschat.com/forum/general-poker-13/pokerpro-electronic-table-review-156220/

I know it's already there. What I meant was that many more casinos will try to bring that in in the future. But live dealers aren't going anywhere, players won't let that happen.

No, not going anywhere . Live poker = Live dealer for now time will tell what the future brings. Robots that card pitch? That maybe sooner then later. I was also thinking to become a card dealer. It seems to be a secured job. History has shown cards just aren't going anywhere. I researched a little about card dealing and you get min wage plus tips. You also get enough breaks through out the shift. I'm not 100% about this but I heard starting dealers work the tournament area 1st. Live dealers = 4 Live poker games

This is a bit off-topic but I have to add that I honestly admire dealers. Most of them are so smooth with cards that it is almost art in a way. I always look forward to see that when I play live.

It's so beautiful to watch good dealers managing the cards, it's a part of the live poker experience, I hope I'll learn sometime a few tricks
