i just got through reading Nathan Klushberg's book on poker bots. he offers a free download of one but seems like a scam to me even though he offers advice on how to avoid them. anyone's thoughts on pokerbots?

poker bots are supposed to be easy money if you're a player and run into one. i haven't ever ran into one myself yet. what sites allow bots and how widespread are they? could i use one to profit myself? i'm interested too like the OP

I don't think any site allows them. I think they should be easy to beat as well, they probaby would be very nitty and win small amounts at a time or soemthing.

If they keep referring to you as "human" in conversation, i'd say it's probably a bot...or an alien

too funny, if I have ever run into one, I didn't know it, but think they would be easy to bet cause they don't have the capacity to recognize a bluff

if that's true, what about all the poker software programs on your phone or other devices? those cpu players on those games are able to play ok and pick up on bluffing.

What you do not understand is, it is not just poker players. You are the only human on the entire planet.....Twilight Zone theme begins to play.

Given a bot is a program, it would be playing based purely on the math with incorporation possibly if programmed well enough to pick up on tendancies from players based on its own incorporation of stats from the hud softwares.

If developed well enough a bot would mathematically make all of the correct decisions and in the long run should ultimately show a profit. Even if someone recognizes it as a bot its no different then recognizing a nit who is playing the math of the game rather than the players of the game. They may get had from time to time with being bluffed but in many cases the odds out the bluffs should be cought enough times to where a profit should still come from volume played.

Just my thought, being a programmer and knowing that given enough effort and time to develop, a bot (program) could be created as a mathamatically perfect poker player. This alone could give an understanding as to why people may still not trust playing poker online, but of course playing the perfect math only could be considered a leak in the bots game as well.

Thanks,
Bluff

I believe i read somewhere that the bots can be set up to play certain hands and play them in a certain way. Im sure most of us have played against them at one time or another but you have to be pretty observant to pick up on it being a bot

BetOnline is about 65% bots and NEVER go to showdown with one! They will take your chips 99.89% of the time. It's so bad I quit playing their because I suspect BOL is the ones running the bots & gives them an advantage because they will beat AA with 2 4 off or other similar bull every time.
A lot of people say you can tell which ones are bots because they show their physical location when you hold the cursor over their name. From what I've experienced this is true. People chat a lot on BOL but the "bot" suspects have never & other real players from BOL will tell you the same.
Sportsbetting is same bs too.

I think BOL runs their own. They always call my bluffs but when I have a made hand they fold in a second. Its happened thousands of times to me there so I stay away from that site.

I read somewhere that some online rooms are using bots. For me it's same as a cheating.

bots are easy to read and play against, they are not enhanced enough to be a problem. but they can make money, because they can put a lot of volume with a very small edge.

is all this really much different than a casino shill? i know here in blackhawk the casinos will pay you $10/hr to play for the house. personally i think that's a terrible rate and would have to be getting ~$25/hr to make it feel worth while.

how can you even figure out if there is a bot present at the table you are at? I think I have played against some bots at live cash games though lol. But seriously is there even a way of telling if there is a bot at the table you're at? and if so are they illegal and what site can you have bots on. I am interested in seeing a bot play. These days I was thinking about this...if there exist poker bots? It happened for about 2 or 3 times to see a player who calls any bet with almost any hand and wins 90-95% of them. It was pretty awkard. Aand I was just thinking : What if poker sites have bots in order to win some money? I know it may seem a paranoid ideea but can anybody clear that out for me?
