I am going to buy a poker book as it seems they are always of good use. I was wondering which book you would suggest I get first. I play No Limit Hold Em mainly. I was also wondering what magazine you would suggest to suscribe to. Thanks

Card Player and bluff are decent magazines. For tournaments, Harrington on Hold 'Em. For cash games, Angel Largay's book is good and relatively complete for low limit NLHE.

Harrinton on Holdem is the best, I've read all three and gained a lot from each one. You can't go wrong with Harrinton.
Phill Gordons little green book is good as well.

How long have you been playing/what is your experience level?
Tournaments or cash games?

I don't know about the books, havn't read any yet, and don't exactly plan to, but if you're going to go with a magazine subscription I'd go with Card Player magazine; I've read some of their stuff, and they have a lot of informative information, along with entertaining articles.

I'm currently reading Psychology of Poker by Alan Schoonmaker and it's definitely money well spent.

Read "What no one else is saying about online poker". Might give ya some good ideas for online play. Enjoyed not reading about another pros suggestions usually related to live play.

I'll piggy back on the Harrington Series. Very good read. But he's a little tighter than I like to play...but overall is a great guide.

I also just read the No Limit section of Doyle's Super System and gained a newfound fondness of suited connectors.

Also, a very good read. Can't wait to read Super System 2.

Magazines - I like Bluff, All-In, & Poker Player

Super System 2 the holdem section let me down. but I did learn from most of the other parts.
Still Harrington is a must have and read, as well as Zen and the Art of Poker.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll try the Harrington Series and then Ace On The River because I read in "All In" that someone used it to their success in the wsop. Thanks again and see you at the poker tables:)
