What poker book(s) do you recommend? I usually play SNG's and MTT's, I would love to get better at cash games too.

I posted a thread a while back that didn't get any responses asking about books.

NLHE is the game of choice, I assume?

I will say that I picked up Power Hold Em Strategy by Daniel Negreanu and I found it most helpful and definitely improved my game. Others might have better recommendations (I'd love to hear some as I'm looking to buy another) but I found it very useful.

Good luck on the felt.

For SNGs, you should read Colin Moshman Sit 'n Go Strategy.

For MTTs, the 3 "Harrington on Holdem" books.

For cash games, you could start with the 2 "Harrington on Cash Games" books, then Ed Miller's ebook if you ever get to the relevant stakes (i.e. 200nl)

The Harrington books plus Super System (a deep stack play book) and TJ Cloutier's final table book How to Win the Championship.

I would strongly recommend Paul Kammen's HowTo Beat Low-Limit 7-Card Stud Poker. This book builds a tight/agressive level mentality, strong base of play. I give my gracious thanx to Kammen for composing a manuel of superior mechanics. To this day, majority of my 7 card stud earnings are due to the strategic issues tought here. A perfect 10.0 on the richter scale. Enjoy!

So I just picked up Harrington on Hold Em 1 thru 3, got plenty of reading material for noe but I had a question for those that have read a lot of the books.

Does anyone have any info on Caro's Most Profitable Hold Em Advice?

Harrington is probably my top recommendation, after that Flynn et al. wrote a book titled "Professional No Limit Hold 'Em" (I think) that discusses "stack to pot ratios," which is basically just a helpful tool for evaluating your risk vs reward.

Read Harrington first. When you're done, check out the Golden Archive here, then check out the 2+2 stickies. Those will get you started and WELL on your way.

DO NOT MAKE THE FOLLOWING THE FIRST BOOK(S) YOU READ:

a. Theory of Poker (or ANY Sklanksy/Malmuth for that matter)
b. Harrington on Holdem 1-3
c. Weighing the Odds in Holdem Poker by King Yao
d. Super System I or II

unless you have one (or more) of the following:
1. you are already an experienced player
2. you have a mathematical and/or statistical background of some sort
3. you have decent or recent academic training and/or are used to rigorous study of texts in some manner.

You will, of course, want [a, b, c, d above] and more eventually, they just are not beginners books.

I would say to read some of Phil Gordon's or John Vorhaus's books before if you are a beginner(and I would say the majority of players online are)

By the way, I am not saying that those books aren't good books to read, there are just quite a few more books to read before diving into those, or you are going to be overloaded with information that you aren't ready to handle. Kind of like jumping into Calculus without ever taking general math, there are a lot of beginner concepts that you need to learn before being able to appreciate the advanced concepts...

Im not going to disagree on Belgo's recommendation, because the content is great for all players, but take Harrington's cash game book with a grain of salt. I bought this book last year and read it cover to cover, only to find some of his 'example' hands to have very bold mistakes. I did hear that Ed Miller's book is excellent, though I haven't read it yet.

Have you read Sklansky's book on 7 card stud? I heard this was a good book to read.

Does Kammen's book cover any variations of stud like hi/lo?

I own all books written on 7 Card Stud in the English language. Kammen's is a great start for beginners, Sklansky writes about advanced methods of play. I'd want a player who seeks new knowledge 7 Card Stud to educate himself correctly. Unfortunately Hi/Lo isn't covered, however once you pick up the Hi, Lo becomes common sense.

I am reading No Limit Holdem Theory and Practice - David Skalansky and it's very interesting. If you are looking for poker books you can often buy them with fpp on some sites, or get them as bonuses, etc.
