Poker is ALL luck...and skill. Read this article
This is the follow on from the article this guy was torn to pieces about a while back.
I agree with loads of what he says, the biggest being that poker player have such big egos they downplay the amount of luck in poker.
Lots of the comments make good reading at the end of the article, but u got to read the article first.
My own point about luck in poker, I find very hard to explain. I KNOW poker is a game of skill & luck. It is my opinion that it is when u get lucky that will really count.
If I was on the final table bubble in the WSOP
, hit my set of aces on a rainbow board with no straight possibilities on flop. I push all in. I get called by another guy who has hit a smaller set. Then, on the river he hits his quads.
Then, home game, $500 winner takes all with 10 friends. EXACT same scenario as above, other than I win, set over set.
Lucky has then made a massive difference and had a massive bearing on the game of poker.
Statistic say that if u play enough hands and you are a great player, u will win over time.
Statistically, the Worlds best player COULD lose every coin flip
