Poker As A Sport?

I would say poker is like chess, not really a sport but definitely takes a strong mentality and focus to perform well in.

Poker can not be compared with chess. Chess is a visual game. The poker no.

People will always argue about what poker is.

Why can't sport be focused on psychological side? Sport is basically people doing some particular task while one tries to do it better than others. I do agree that poker can't be a sport due to variance factor, but chess is pure strategical skill which can be improved by training.

In brazil, it is part of Confederation of Mind's Sports
just like chess and backgammon

I think poker of course is a sport...its a mental strength to win a bluff or to read another player...and for every Kind of sports the mental strength is so important...

Sports not have to include a kind of moving...i think 😅

prabably most time consuming sport. takes a lot time and energy plus training to be good at it. wsop is hell exiting sport i would not miss out on. poker is just a great overall sport in my eyes.

If chess is considered sport, than poker should be too. They are mind games so i dont think of them as sport.

It is not only a matter of luck, because using just luck means that there is no knowledge. Poker need maths, which means knowledge and generally it needs a fight and knowledge from the player, so it is a sport!

It is a sport by definition, the sad part is we call ourselves a free nation but can't play cards online for money... silly in my view.

Maybe is good for brain,and nothing else.

Sorry I have to disagree. I have my province colours for eSports. That is I sat in a chair and played computer games. If computer games are a sport, poker definitely is.

Hell Guitar Hero is a sport in the eSports community.
