Hi.
Of course, poker can be the main job.
But before you start earning enough, you need years of practice and training.
Are you ready to spend three to five years to gain the necessary experience and improve your skills ?
If you are ready, then you will achieve your goal.

In this current climate unless you put in insane work and study I would say no. You have to be very realistic and look like and hard before committing to this game full time.

Working with Poker

Firstly to say if it is possible to have poker as a job and source of financial reward, let us first of all understand what poker really is.
Poker for many is a sport and for others a game of chance, being a sport needs to be financed or paid by someone, in this question to be a poker player the player needs money, and where that money comes from, then we can say that at the beginning poker can not be a profession because you need someone who finances your game, in this case it is better for the person who wants to win in poker to find a job and establish himself solidly to later enter poker with his own money your job.
Poker as a game of chance, this is the main root of poker, question anyone who wants to question, even though it started in the casinos and then be played online, before everything else see that everyone who plays are subject to lose, whether in casinos or online if the victory arrives, defeat will finally arrive day after day, so find a job to lose when you do not miss what you missed.
So before you want to live in poker, keep in mind that everyone in poker wants to make money, you as other players have this desire and the site or casino wants to make money, so I recommend everyone to look for a job.

Everything has changed SOOO much over the past few years, the standards are now so much higher, which all makes it so much more difficult. More hard work and study required :)

Of course poker can be the main activity, but not all of this is given, there are many examples where people lose everything and can not stop building up debt and very negatively destroy everything that was created over the years, this applies not only to poker and all gambling in general.

poker as job

My advice for poker as job is : First if you want to earn your bread from poker you need to follow the rules :
1: Select your game (Cash/Mtt/SitnGo)
2: Read a few about the game you will play (books or online publications)
3:Choose a smart capital (bankroll) for good start and control it Responsible
4:This is the most important rule of them (Select your time in playing poker like a job choose 5-6 days of week 4-8hours maximum (depends on what game you play)

Good Luck

Hello.
Everything is possible. But do not forget that poker is a hard day-to-day job.
My dream is that learning to play poker is good enough to get a decent income from the game. Once in the future, I will achieve my goal. I believe in it.

It can, but its one of the hardest jobs ever. You need to have such discipline that nothing can affect your game. You need to have a plan and stick to it. Also years of learning, through regular learning or through experience.

Yes, it is possible, but you have to allocate a huge amount of time and to work really hard. Moreover, you have to treat poker as a job, doing your best to improve the quality of the game, working with your error log, and not allowing any excuses. If you cannot do those things, you better not to consider poker a primary job.

It would take the fun out for me. Don't play that often and when I do, it is enjoyable. Going through rough patch of variance and losing a good percentage of you're bankroll would be a bad day at the office for an extended period.

Getting through that mindset, it would be a pretty good job, on most days.

I think poker can be a job for a very sound and self aware person but like any job the more money you make the more u spend u would have to figure out how to play your money u would need to know when u will be at your best and when u would not. Man alot of variables I see here cause you woul have to consistently stay above a certain amount of money whose to say I'd say 10 grand then what happens if fall below 10 grand do you try a different profession or risk going broke.

I played live poker for a living for a year. I also worked part time though for guaranteed money. Get used to eating ramen. It's hard hard work because if you have one bad day you could go bust if you're not careful. I'd at least have a side job.
