I dropped out of college. It wasn't for me even tho I got good grades. Ive studied poker for the last two months. I got first place in a couple of freerolls. My girlfriend wants me to get a real job. Ive only played in MTT's. Am I crazy or is it really possible to get rich playing poker. People think Im crazy. Am I being unrealistic?

I probably shouldn't touch this topic with a ten foot pole. Ah what the heck. I only have one question for you. What is more important, your girlfriend or poker?

well ummm. idk. probally her. shes pretty hot and perfect but she would never make me chose. I dont think. I will at least have a chance to prove myself. I play and learn as much as I can and pretty much guarantee I can do it. She doesn't understand that poker isn't gambling and its possible to get rich off it. or maybe its the other way around. maybe im wrong.

If at this point you need money and you want to earn them in poker, then it's better to listen to the advice of your girl and get to work.
As for me, 2 months or even 2 years is a very small period of time to talk about earnings.

In this moment you are being unrealistic. 2 freerolls means pretty much nothing.
If you want to see if it is realistic or not play 1000+ real money mtts and see where you stand from where you started. Learn about bankroll management, see what other people say about variance in the game you play and look at your roi over a big sample (1k mtts+) then you might see that it's probably not what you expected unless you play $22+ mtts and have a good roi in them which are way harder than freerolls. You probably won't get rich from this game so a job is the best option and you could play and learn in your free time. (i was exactly like you, even tried it. I wouldn't say i failed but i was playing too low to have a good enough return monthly, now i have a job and play mtts just for fun, if i win one i won't quit my job it would be just extra money).

Go back and be in college or get a job and learn poker on the side. 2 months is nothing, 2 freerolls is nothing, and while it is possible long term to make money off poker...it takes a lot of hard work, effort, and years of play as well as study.

Also poker IS a form of gambling. Yes there are skill edges which makes poker unique among most forms of gambling but it's still gambling.

Not trying to be harsh but as Gohaku said, you're being unrealistic. And you'll need a large sample of MTTs played to even know if you're a winning player. As well as a bankroll of at least 50-100 buy ins for the level of MTT you want to play.

Seriously go back to school and/or get a job and play/learn poker on the side. Revisit the "making a living off poker" idea once you've become a proven winner at the games you play. And even then I'd recommend keeping a side gig.

Did you win two freerolls ?
What amount of money did you win in these two freerolls ?
Please, tell if this is not a secret information.
It is interesting to know, what gave you reason to believe, that after 2 months of the game you can make a living ?

I think that if you win well in poker and get a good profit then you can not work and the girl will be very happy, but if you just play and do not win, then it's better to find a job and earn money and play poker free time!

I think that at this time it will be better to combine college education and play poker. Well, after college, you yourself decide that it will be better to play or go to work.

Everyone at the beginning of dating poker thinks that one has only to learn how to play well and money will flow to them by the river, in fact, one unit only succeeds.

Well Poker is really hard and expensive job :). It takes much more than 2months to learn only the basics about poker, for the rest you'll need more time. Poker can be your main job but you need to have strategy, tourneys and good bankroll management so you don't become a gambler.
Good luck grinding.
I'm playing poker last 2years after i finished my faculty and i find good earnings + doing some freelance testing application :)

Hi.
It seems to me that it is a bad idea to rely on earnings in poker, after two freerolls won, and two months of the game. Think, maybe it is better to still find a real job.
In any case, good luck to you.

you're starting wrong, thinking like this, with poker it's possible to make money yes, only 10% of this wins the big prizes, and the other 90% is losing money .. if you want to make money in poker, have a focus, keep your feet off the ground, find a job that will give you a living until you do not need it anymore, and survive only from poker .. Being a poker player is not what we see on youtube, and movies, it's very different .

It is impossible to learn how to play winning poker in games that the max buy in is only 100x the big blind. If you are not able to play in games that have higher buy ins you will never learn how to play and these type of games are not available everywhere.

2 months won a couple .. lol like 1st place win or min cash ......

ive been playing ACR about 5 days I"ve won 2 first place for 2.50 in those free rolls 95c in another I put it on BLACK... the fields are so unrealistic its worse than play money ... seriously way worse than play money at least play money people have play money invested .. I regular some play money games I'm not just telling story's

you got to realize the action you built your chip stacks with during a free roll will not happen at the $$$ games well it can but not people just cliff diver plays these people are mostly just clicking the call button with Ego....I'm not folding .. 5 way all in's are not Normal

I think ive seen you at the table I wonder if I made any notes on YOU .... I saw some one called "The Man" just that screan name screams tilt Ego play .. and people who use the Executioner picture that's a Tell .... before you go PRO consider your avatar well
Kim jun ung might help you tilt your opponets maybe the Trump but you don't need to Tilt snowflakes or a booty girl may tilt those lonely poker basement dwellers Who needs Cards to Win .....

LoL !!two freerolls !!!!!! She is right. Finish college and find job. If you want much money in poker you must have bunkroll, good expirience in poker, iron eggs, and all time to play without personal life

I'm writing as a college dropout and as someone who lived from Poker in the last 5 years.

Is it possible to earn a living and eventually get rich from Poker? Yes.

Is it easy? Hell, no.

It's ok to leave your college if you don't like what you are doing / will do with that degree but please, do not do it just because you think Poker is an easy way to get rich.

Freerolls are way easier than every single real-money field you will ever face and it doesn't matter if you are doing well in those.

To be honest I consider myself pretty lucky to be where I am, but if there is something I regret is that I chose this career without having a decent plan B, at least in the beginning.

Trust me, Poker can be a real hell when you are in a downsing and need those money to pay the bills.

If you want a suggestion, start playing real money while building something else for you"just in case".
If you see that things are going really well even with real money then you will have more information to make a better decision, but right now you are just jumping in a world you really don't know yet.

Many girls do not want their guys to play poker until they see a tangible benefit in it.
And then they will force me)))
