Hey guys,

Just wondering has anyone ever went toe-to-toe with a professional poker player? has anyone every 5bet Phil Ivey pre-flop with air and got him to laydown? Did you knockout a pro online in a big tournameny? Did you outplay him/her or did you just donk out on them?

Please share your stories :) I want to hear them.

I'll start by saying before black friday, I knocked out a pro on Full Tilt playing a mini FTOPS event. I had AA and raise the button, pro was in small blind with 99 and shoved his short stack. Needless to say, I called and ended his tournament life lol not really out playing him, just got lucky to wake up with a hand in that spot. (Sorry, I really can't remember who it was, I will try to find the screenshot I have saved somewhere on my old comp.... )

By far the longest I've played with a pro was back in 2008. I was knocked out of a live tournament, the Irish Open, just before the end of day 1, during which my table didn't break. Christer Johannson had won a WPT in season 1, beating a final table that included Alan Cunningham and Tony G. He won the Irish Open a year later, and has over $2 million in total live winnings.

I never played a big pot with him. He was seated to my right, and built an above-average stack fairly early, after which he opened quite a few pots. I was fairly card dead and never got more than 10-12% above the starting stack and was below average almost the entire day. So, the couple of pots I was involved in against him were shove re-steals after he opened in LP. I remember I had a mid-pair once and A4 the other time. He folded both times. Nothing special. I might not even have remembered them except for the fact they were against a guy I had seen on TV. In any case, I did win some chips from him overall, not surprising given I had position on him all day.
