Hello,
I came to the point that playing online poker has become a fashion in todays word.
May be because it help the unemployed person to earn money in some way.
and thereby has successfully increase the economic condition of the country.
What do you say my poker friends? .

For every person that earns money playing poker their are 30 who don't.

While poker is become more main stream ( on the cover of ESPN and in this song)
YouTube - Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem - Forever Official Music Video

It isn't going to improve the economic conditions of any country. The gambling problems associated with poker will always override the majority of the positives unfortunately.

I disagree with this last part, I think if the US can come to there senses, they can regulate online poker and tax it. Therefore instead of all these billion dollar bailouts that come from the taxpayers, how about using that money for online poker.

Or better yet everybody in this country thinks we don't have the money to fund a health care system. How about using funds from online poker.

They could use the taxes to pay off the National Debt...that is, IF it ever becomes law & providing there is no 'pork' attached! And to fund a decent health care system for all.:)

The logic in the original post is so flawed it hurts my brain.

In the UK up until a few years ago Poker was generally considered to be a game for no users and lay abouts. Now it is played by a large percentage of the population including women. I dont know about it being a fashion but it is certainly a very popular game.

Not a very high percentage of players do make money from poker.
Gambling in general does however create a lot of jobs in casinos, bookmakers, working for online sites etc
I am sure that if they banned all gambling those people who work in the gambling in industry who all lost their jobs and livelihood, would massively outnumber the number of compulsive gamblers who did not lose everything as a result of it being banned.

I got into poker through a friend and started to mess about on pokerstars with playmoney. I got a few more friends into poker and we used to play small live games and mess about with playmoney.
I started to get obsesd with the game and the rest of my friends got bored of it and dont play it anymore. Ahwell....
TV has warped all those noobs into a poker frenzy. They'll play for a bit, loose money, get bored then give the game up.
These fish are great for dead money flyin about. They'll either get angry and learn the game proper of they'll just give up and try a new thing. IMO.

Maybe to some extent it has become a somewhat 'fashion'.
Poker really only kicked off when online poker came into play, and also around when the time chris moneymaker won the wsop, before then it wasnt anywhere near as popular. Having said that i dont beleive chris had that big of an impact, but the poker world kicked off and online poker sites and casinos have prospered from it no doubt, it helps out the economy, but has alot of underlying 'micro-economic' policies affecting people.

It's because poker has become more main stream and more people know of it... Due the TV mainly...

But i do not believe it helps the economy at all if anything... It probably does not do it much good!

LOL - can't believe I missed this thread the first time around.

Poker is soooooooooo, like, 2006. And it was a fad more than a fashion.
