the other day I saw a video with Daniel Negreanu physical exercises in a gym with a personal
By ignorance and total lack of knowledge, most thought he only plays poker for heavy physical exercises like these?
I did not know a poker tournament can be more exhausting than a marathon and especially to Daniel who travels the world , requires a lot of physical and mental vigor .
And you ? as is your physical preparation for poker ?

I saw a André Akkari video about how to be a pro, when he says how fundamental is a good physical preparation to overcome the effort of a tournament that can last ten hours in a day.

But I need to be honest. The only physical exercise I’m doing right now is “beer cup lifting”, lol!

Everybody needs physical exercises if one wants to be healthy.

In my opinion, as a physician, poker has another problem that is the fact we stay sat for hours and hours.
Besides no physical activities staying sat for many hours has a significant impact in our lives.

Maria Francisca, it is very important that you maintain good physical fitness as a poker player. The requirement for an agile mind is assisted by the body being agile and healthy. This is compounded by the simple nature of poker which generally requires a player to be sitting down for a long time, while also concentrating. You will know already that concentration and patience are huge requirements to be successful at poker. If you are sitting and aching or fidgeting because you are uncomfortable (probably because you are not physically fit) then your concentration will disappear. Notwithstanding the general benefits to us all of fitness, the brain benefits from good energy and stamina levels also, so lets all get off our chairs and go do something!

If you play poker a lot there is very important to do sports and move your body. Otherwise you just go down and healthy issues will come fast.

just imagine you play a tournament for about 4 hours(final 2 tables,big prize,normal speed).your back and your whole body is sitted for 4 hours and it may be in this situation for about 1 hour more at least,if everything works good for you.so a good shape helps you overcome the tiredness,dont you think?

physical exercise helps a lot

Physical exercise helps a lot in every game..it doesn't matter whether you are a athletic, my advice is everyone should do some physical exercise on regular basic to keep your mind and body healthy, after all "Health is wealth".

Yes the exercises are good for players , you have to have a healthy body and you will have a healthy mind and that's important to don't lose the concentration when you play poker and that you have to be sit down for a long time playing, remember healthy body = healthy mind

Although the apparent poker being a discipline in which the physical condition is not a central element many consider beyond the mental preparation , achieve optimal fitness is necessary to achieve the desired performance in the gaming table.

Yeah its very important.

I do a 3-4 hours physiotherapy/chiropractic style routine everyday to keep my body in shape. I have been doing this for the past 5 years or so due to a physical anomaly/disability in my spine. Before I found this out, I worked all the time, without any concern to my health.

Long story short ... Im fitter now at 45 than I was 10 years ago due to a full life change. I will continue doing a strict physical schedule everyday for the rest of my life and I actually enjoy it know the awesome results it produces.

I exercise and do sports. To maintain good physical shape. Also I think it is important and psychological exercises. Maintaining good mental shape is also very important in poker.

If I have a tournament to play at night, I spend the whole day relaxing and focused for the game, so I can get in the game and give it my all , my whole mind into play , all the necessary study
