So as not to be accused of plagarism , the following is courtesy of another poker forum. I have not used their forum name for fear of advertising. :banghead:

Some really sad news hit the poker world this morning: Phil Ivey has decided to end his poker career! According to full tilt poker, a press release with more information and a personal "goodbye message" from Phil Ivey will be sent out in a few hours. The reason why he has decided to stop playing poker so early in his career comes as a big shock to most people, but not to one of his closest friends....

"Phil has been tired of poker for a long time and it was just a matter of time before he would stop and make it official. According to what Phil told me a couple of days ago, he will now focus on his other big interest in life, politics. Yes, believe it or not! Phil has a genuine interest for politics and he has told me that the aim is to run for the governor post in Nevada within the next few years." writes Howard Lederer in a forum thread.

Ya'll are just toooo smart

Well, as you all no, I'm not good at bluffing either ... right on!

Sure hope Ivey stays out of politics because its not an honest profession...lol

My best, Wally

PS: I know this should go in the "joke" thread, but then you'd all know it was a joke, right?

I don't think anyone would believe this even if it wasn't an April Fool's joke. I just can't imagine Ivey doing anything except playing poker until he is Brunson's age!

Lol. Yeah this has to be true. The biggest name in poker just gives it up and we happen to get this information on April Fools day. Pretty good story though.

I think it's a good choice picking Ivey for this gag. (alot of other players it'd be.. 'so what.. he's quitting? pff.. oh well. But with Ivey being such a huge name in poker... obv. has a different effect).
idk... looking at Ivey's expression when you watch him playing on televised poker, he does look kinda bored.

Ivey for President!

Some poor fool might read this and think he's actually giving up his money printing machine.

That would just be trading in one money printing machine for another...

Ivey quits poker, as in quitting all his opponents and leaving them broke ;)
