I was wondering if it was legal or possible to have a program that shows the percentages of your hands while you play...

ummm like, KK 70% flop: Q83 <--- does this make sense?

so it shows what chance you have of winning with your current hand.. in %

tell me if this exists lol, im fine without anything but it might help...

Unless I'm misunderstanding your post, that's really not possible because to know the percentages, you would need to know the cards of the other player.

I think when two or more players are all in and the cards are showing, pokerroom shows the percentages of each player winning the hand.

You can use programs that calculate percentages of 2 random cards but not against your opponents hand because you don't know it.

These programs are not illegal and are called "Odd calculators" and can be found in a lot of places, some free some are not.

Check out Holdem Partner.

Well, I'm computer savvy so I don't use a virus scan and I trust this site whether you listen to ZoneAlarm (which I wouldn't consider a good virus scanner any way) or not is up to you....

Sorry to OP and MODS, but this thread has been Hi-Jacked for good reason.
BTW alen, I do put full trust in ZoneAlarm, hasn't let me down in over a year since install, one time payment through my ISP and updates are automatic and free.

ZoneAlarm review and download

ZoneAlarm review and download

You can keep using it, but I haven't used a virus scanner in a few years now and my computer is running fine....

And some of those reviews date back to 2002 :p (Btw I am not saying ZoneAlarm is bad, I am just one of those people who doesn't really like anti-virus programs but the only one I would use if I used one is BitDefender, ZoneAlarm seems pretty good too)

Hey Shine, you might want to switch to Firefox, it's far more secure than IE.

Does... not... compute. Anyone with any knowledge of computers runs an entire suite of defense programs, including a spyware sweeper, anitvirus, and firewall.

ZoneAlarm is, in fact, the top reviewed firewall (it's not a virus scan, although with many products these days the line is blurring) by numerous sources year after year.

Try Pokerbility

There is a program called Pokerbility. You can probably google it and download it. It attaches to the game window and gives you the percentages and even tells you what move to make. CAUTION.... only gives you your odds against any two random cards... to actually know where you stand in a hand, you would have to know what your opponents are holding. I don't really like these programs... There are times when you have to just use your noodle!!!

Yes, a HUGE contradiction. If you don't use a virus scanner, you definitely wouldn't be considered "computer savvy". Automated computer security is "Basic Savvy 101", sir.

I run Poker Office, and their HUD has a couple of cool features. It shows the pot odds and also the percentages of your hand improving to a set for example. It will list things like percentage to make a straight, flush, two pair, three of a kind, etc. and how many outs you have. It also shows the best possible hand that can be made with the board.

Although it obviously can't tell what your opponent has, you should be able to put them on a range of hands and use the information that it provides to make decisions.

IMO Poker Offices HUD and Hand Tracker are better than PAHUD. It also displays all of villains stats directly on the table like PAHUD.

Dang...now I have to quit my day job as a software developer  ......

I DO scan my system...but I DON'T run a virus scanner in "scan everything all the @#$%^&*&^% time mode"...... I DO turn off the host of bs "services" that microsoft so graciously "autostarts" for you...(unless of course I REALLY, REALLY want other people to be allowed to EDIT MY REGISTRY REMOTELY!!!!!!) I DO run a HARDWARE firewall...nothing irks me more than local built-in or freeware software firewalls on a LAN behind a REAL firewall....and then they complain that they CAN'T find the printer

BTW: some of the trickiest spyware/virus/worm programs out there "short circuit" your virus scanners "updates". Be sure to MANUALLY check the "latest signature" file time/date code yourself from time to time!

Yeah, I am NOT computer savvy at all, but I have more than one spyware sweeper (Ad-aware and Spy sweeper), plus the complete norton package. I want to be as protected as possible, because if something happened to my computer - I would have no idea how to fix it.

You say that but I know tons and tons of programmers and none which use virus scanners. I don't care what you guys might think on this subject, but I haven't used a virus scanner in a few years and I bet if I installed a virus scanner and scanned my computer it wouldn't find any. (and some of the adware it might find is just programs I know a bout that it considers adware) I'm kinda off this subject but think what you want I'll think what I want...this is a poker forum not a computer one :p

And a funny thing, you know where most viruses come from? From the virus scanner companies themselves (Norton and McAfee) so that way their Apps can detect it first and it makes them look better :p

But ya, if I was going to use a virus scanner / defender I would use BitDefender.

Agree that it's not a contradiction. The more savvy you are, the less you need to use any protection software. I haven't used anything in years and the only time I've been bit is when my ex wife used my computer. Doh.

I find PC problems are more often caused by resident software such as firewalls and virus scanners than anything else. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't use them because if you don't know what causes problems or how to fix them, it's your only choice.

Stay away from Norton though. Used to be some cool utilities. Now it's just bloatware.

As said, there are alot of odds calculators. When I first started playing I used one. Forget the name. Gave the % I had to win against any 2 cards (not factored in) the opp might have. The % of an oppenent having a straight, a flush etc... depending on how many was still in the hand and so forth.

They are good for getting the numbers, but you cannot rely solely on them. If you have two pair and one opp, with a possible straight showing, the % of someone having a straight is rather low (with 9 opps its rather high), meaning your odds of winning are higher, but if the opp is betting and betting and/raising you etc... well, dont be surprised that even though the calculator says you have a better chance of winning, that you lose to the straight.

It helped me improve my game (gave me a better idea of how much of a threat there really is against possible straights etc..), but if you dont take the way your opps play and bet, and go with it just because it says you have a better chance of winning, you WILL be losing more over the long run.
