Has anyone an idea of whats the percentage of winning online hold em players ?
I mean at slots , casino games i ve heard its only 3 % who are constantly winning or at least not losing any of their cash .

Any idea of how many online poker players there are world wide ?
100.000 ? 1.000.000 ?

And if its 1.000.000 people , are 100.000 winning players or 200.000 or ... ?

Maybe someone got a statistic , would be really interesting !

their have been suggestions that the online poker boom is into a slow decline but all i have noticed in recent months is an explosion of new sites giving away free money.at its peak there are around 9million online players but i cannot suggest what the win percentage is soz poo poo.

A number that I've heard (but have no way of verifying) is that only 7% of online players are winners.

I suppose the poker sites would have access to these statistics, but somehow I doubt that they want to tell their customers that they're 93% likely to lose money. ;)

I wouldn't be surprised to see the number below 10%. I think many folks, especially the younger ones, see online poker as a video game where "real" money is not at risk. This is probably why we have so many calling stations and allin crazies...

I would think the number would be much higher than 10% winners. I personally am in the + category and I'm pretty sure I'm not in the top 10% of players.

I think the operative question

Is how many can make a living at it.
This applies to online and brick and mortar casinos.

Now a "living " is different to all so

50 BB's per 8 hour day at B&M
Or
Same online in 4 hours.

Opinions???

First of all, I don't think that there is anyone who can profit from slotmachines on the (very) long run, since it's programmed to only give a certain percantage dollar back from every 100 dollar.

Secondly, since tournaments only pay-out 10%, the people being in profit from poker are def. lower than 10% (however this doesn't take cash games in count.)

Cornell is right

About slot machines although there are a few, very few, video poker machines that have a positive EV.

And tournaments are hard to profit from there are some that do. moo.

So cash games are probably easiest to profit from, ALTHOUGH NOT EASY!

This data is a few years old, is for tournaments only, and doesn't consider rakeback and other promotions. But it's the most legitimate data of which I am aware.

http://sharkscopers.com/tag/winning-players/

In the first place, we need to see what is this source (same old) to analyze more clearly. For example, if you look to regular players, you will perceive that the average spins arounds 15% to 16%.

The source is clearly identified as sharkscope, which has been tracking players online for many years, and is widely relied upon in the poker community.

You give a figure of 15% to 16%, but provide no source at all.

Why would an video poker machine even have a positive EV, that doesn't make any sense.
If there ever was a slot machine with a positive EV, I'm sure the boss of that machine would take it away as fast as he can.

I am about even overall, I don't go to crazy with buy-in amounts/deposit. Plus I have made two good withdrawals so I feel like a winner.

I also use sharkscope (does not have a specific source) and compare with other sites to see the margin of error of each one. What i do is select a few more active regular players and manually do the measurement. This value placed is just an estimate of my observation over time regarding tournament-only games.

I think it's small and wouldn't be surprised if it's what you say. But most people do,it for recreation and it's fun.

Video poker with positive EV

Check with
wizardofodds

A few Dueces Wild video poker machines will show a profit for the player IF PLAYED PERFECTLY . But perfect play is complicated and there is a huge variance. Also takes a large bankroll.
