Is there any advantage for a couple sitting at the table who know each other?

I myself feel at a disadvantage, I think I don't play like I usually do. Not on purpose, but I feel sometimes I am not as "take no prisoner" approach as I like to be.

Well, I've seen some situations in which really skillful players play together using codes with fingers, etc. But that's against the rule and I personally don't like it. Sometimes playing against somebody I know affects my game because I know him/her as a person and have some expectations. After all, one should be able to adapt in any situation.

This is the way I see it. Since I am very competitive, I will play even harder against someone I know. I've been at tables with my husband and busted him...:p Hmm...maybe that's a reason we're not married anymore....:hmmmm:

No, but seriously, I don't see a problem with it, as long as they aren't cheating in anyway and colluding or soft-playing one another. I mean, you might get to know the other people at the table over time anyway, and that of course will always put you at an advantage over someone new.

On the table there are no friends. Money should not be mixed with friendship:cool:

At the poker table should not be friends. We need to play a fair game.

nope. just because they know eachother doesn't mean they have any type of advantage or cheat in any way.

I frequently play in games where there are a couple of players at the table who are obviously buddies and tend to play much softer against each other. While this is contrary to the way the game is supposed to be played, I really don't have any objection to it. The end result is usually that the less talented player gets to keep more of his/her chips that are then going to be available to me as a result.

I've also played at tables where two players try to execute squeezes on other players and I do have a problem with this. While this is sometimes exploitable, I usually just leave the table when I see this happening.

I love playing people I know because I know a lot about their game and I use that to my advantage to take their chips!

Knowing someone at the table can be as much disadvantage as advantage. Unless the players are a team I don't feel they have an advantage. Most players don't play exactly the same every game so they may know some of each others tendencies I don't think it will matter in the long run.:D:D

Most definitely there is an advantage. Collusion is a major problem too especially in live low stakes No limit- I've heard stories of entire tables colluding against one or two unsuspecting people. Always be wary of what people are doing with their chips or other signals and watch the action. If the same two people keep getting involved in the same pot and do weird things like min raising out of position they could be trying to build a pot unfairly for their buddy who has signaled he has a monster hand.

I don't think its extremely common but it does happen, same with cheating online.

i just played the SMC freeroll, and i talked to a few members that i know, it was nice seeing them in the same tables but that didnt change anything, when you can you will let them with zero chips ;)

it was a god experience, even if i lost all-in with Ah Kh VS 33 , i was very unlucky

I feel that the only advantage or disadvantage there would be would only affect those two people who knew each other. For example they would know each other’s playing style, strengths and weaknesses etc. I do not see how that would effect other peoples play. I could be wrong...

And than they will win money from each other, i think if they play together it is nothing to halp them, they do not know cards of other players.

Assuming you are referring to live poker - I don't have a problem with it. It would be obvious quickly if they were colluding in any way. Frankly I have never seen any 2 people try to collude on one of my live tables.

I have heard some comments made in ignorance but that is about it.

In a live tournament you can immediately unravel the conspiracy players. And this will be their last game. Online to solve more complicated.

it always makes it a bit odd taking in a huge pot from someone you consider a friend but at the same time playing with friends live is often the most fun.

I think that if the game is online, then the factor of dating opponents does not play a big role! but if this is a game in a lan tournament, then of course it matters because your reaction and facial expressions can give you to your acquaintance
