People not accepting deals...

Ive been in many tournaments where i am one fo the chip leaders with three or four left and i offer an even deal and people do not take it.

I really dont understand why you wouldnt want to take a deal if you were coming last and were desperate for chips.

I offer and they never seem to accept. I cant really understand why this would happen.

Which tournaments? To my knowledge it is usually the weekend special tourneys that offer moderated deals, at least on Stars. There is a big difference from let's say a 600 dollar first prize compared to the final table payout structure at the Sunday Million. Unless I'm playing the latter, I'm going to play to win it all.

My tournaments are too small to consider a deal.

Very rarely 3 people make a deal or even four. It is hard to get all the players to make a deal. Heads up even if the 2nd place guy is far behind, sometimes they think they can comeback and challenge the leader. 1st and 2nd place winnings are usually a huge difference, Maybe they want to take the risk to take down first and win the extra cash. I usually never make deals as I hate the idea, I do not believe making a deal is part of poker.

They click on it an than dont accept it? I think alot of people dont know about or understand the new deal feature on Full Tilt. Me personally I usually always leave the box checked cause I am always willing to negotiate. Than again that could be the politician in me though =)

Note that there is a difference between ICM and Stack Size Ratio deal pay outs:

"Compared to the fairer ICM method, Chip Ratio tends to give too much to the larger stacks at the expense of the smaller stacks. The two methods are equivalent for a winner-take-all tournament, but not for tournaments with multiple prizes. In fact, using the straight Chip Ratio method without any restrictions can result in highly imbalanced payouts."

they chopped it evenly leaving a grand for first place...and wouldnt you

i play small buyins and as a hobby, ive been offered deals and would not do it, if it was for big money it be a different story entirely, but too split a couple hundred dollars nah

I have done Final Table deals on several occasions, where the deal seemed fair. I can`t say that I am massively keen on doing so. It is a bit of an anti-climactic ending to what may have been hours of effort. It evens out variance though, if done sensibly.

Where I live people seem to deal very often on final tables at the casino tournaments even with as many as 5 or 6 players left.
I have not taken a deal myself, but I know they're worthwhile sometime.
You just have to evaluate whether you're being offered a good deal.

i do not see nothing wrong with deals, i love this feature in Fulltilt, even in S&G games some times can make a deal, only if i am ahead in chips usually do not take it, but if deal is fair why not.

When I go to Vegas I play the small buy-in turneys alot and have seen alot of deals that make no sense. People go to Vegas and want to make a final table and leave a "winner"-they are not thinking if it's the best deal or not.

For some people it is about the winning more than the cash. What is right for you is not always right for someone else. If you offer and they dont accept just get on with it and stay focused.

But players may have played differently since they were guranteed an amount freater than if they had not chopped.

Now me myself have no problem dealing if all the chips are with in 4 or 5 BB blinds. I play in a Charity tournament in downtown cleveland its a $40 buy in with $30 going to prize pool usually gets around 60-70 players, blinds are 15 minutes long and each player starts with 3500 in chips blinds go up pretty quick. Any how I've have final tabled this 4 times in 6 tournaments and have chopped 3 times, the reason is chips stacks to blinds in each instance blinds were 4000-8000 or 5000-10000 and the largest chip stack was 80k, so at that point it becomes a best hand shoot out. In the 3 times I chopped I made $390 (chopped 5 ways first suppose to get $740) then made $505 (chopped 3 ways first sceduled to get $630) and then the other I made $430 (chopped 4 ways first to make $670) and the one time we didnt chop was because 2 players had over 100k and 2 players were sitting with 15k I was one of those players I finished 5th for $110.

Also I have watched the final table of the Sunday Millions and watched a player lose alot of money. They got the numbers for a chip stack chop and all agreed except the player in 2nd he was going to get 98k and said he needed at least 150k the guy in first said he would give him 2k to bring him to 100k and the guy just wouldn't do it so they played on and he ends up getting knocked out in 5th for 35k. Then on the otherside I watched the 2008 WCOOP main event final table, and when it got down to 5 they looked at the numbers player AKJhoosier was sitting in 5th and after the numbers said he needed at least 800k because he had backers so first and second took some off theirs and put him at 800k and they were playing for 60k for the winner well AKJhoosier ends up finishing 2nd and would have won 1.4 million had he not done a deal.

most times i will offer to cut a deal for the bubble boy, i believe its good karma

oh this is for live events with a decent amt of buyin though.. like 200+ up not for 5.50 sng

Nothing wrong with any deal if all players involved want that and if everyone it`s happy here u go.

I tried to make a deal on a $1 9-player tournament as soon as I got in the game. Nobody took it

I would never deal at the final table. I want the win more then the money.

Mine too...plus sometimes people dont' want to make the deal bc they honestly feel they can get cha. =) lol.....even though they don't, they have that feeling inside where they feel they can rebuild and just take you. get lucky and put in that much skill......all at the end....=)

I hardly ever take a deal, I usually only enter to win, now if I am super short stack and it looks like i'm dominated I sometimes except deals. some people just don't like to make deals, what happens after you offer deals? Do you win, if so then it is better for you.

Might as well play to win it all if you are a micro stakes player and try and build your roll.

At the Indian Casino I play at regularly there is almost always a deal reached at the final table. The payout structure warrants one. Typically 1st place will be around $700 while a 5 - 6 person chop will pay about $300 - $400 a person, so it's usually a no brainer (unless of course you've got 2 - 3 times as many chips as anyone else, which is rare.)

I think most people either A. Don`t even know what they are or B. Think they are losing out because they could take 1st and greed takes over. IMHO.......it can change on a dime.....better then 3rd place money is always better then 6 place money. Peace

You would probably not have taken it down if the deal had not been made. People play differently when the outcome is predetermined, you know.
