I'm new to this site, glad I found it!! There seems to be a ton of knowledge being shared and other great benefits.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone had other poker related games. My family has an annual poker night the night before Thanksgiving, cash games, we often times play many different games and I was hoping to bring a new game to the circle this year. Games we typically play are Texas Holdem, Omaha, 5 card and 7 card stud, 5 card draw, 7 card jacks or better, a game we call Iron Cross which is similar to Holdem. Anyone have any others?

Thanks in advance!

Razz:
"Razz is a form of stud poker that is normally played for ace-to-five low (lowball poker). The object of Razz is to make the lowest possible five-card hand from the seven cards you are dealt. In Razz, straights and flushes do not count against the player for low, and the ace always plays low. Thus, the best possible Razz hand is 5-4-3-2-A, or 5 high."

I generally play Texas holdy. But also sometimes to me Omaha nraitsya. I consider that it is the most widespread types of poker and the most interesting. At the same time limits different depending on rates. Though there is a lot of kinds of poker and I think there is a lot more interesting.

I like NLH best, but really enjoy Omaha, even Omaha h/l, and razz, when available. Seem to be harder to find on the sites I play though.

Omaha I especially like, because its easy to overplay your hand and you can trap easily in this game, of course you also can get trapped easily in that game as well lol

A game that I'm specializing in Omaha. I think it's a very cool game and for those who are very strategic, this game is perfect. Not to mention that the competition is much smaller. Look, I advise you to play and specialize in this game. it is very cool.

Thanks for the ideas guys. A lot of the guys get hung up on Omaha only being able to use 4 of the hole cards. The Iron horse game we play, has a community of 5 total cards, set up in a plus sign shape, and each player can only play the community in one direction, so the middle card can play either way. It's interesting.

Anyone have any others?

Dr Pepper: 7 Stud where all the 2's, 4's and T's are wild.

Drawn and Quartered:
7 Stud variant where pots are split between the best high, the best low, highest spade in the hole and lowest diamond in the hole.

These were favored at the invitation only games I played in the mid-1980s: 10/20 limit.

Jacks and Back: Five card draw where the opener has to have at least a pair of jacks. If no one opens, then the game becomes ace to five lowball draw.

Little Poison for the larcenous: This is a 5 Stud Hi/Lo game with a declaration and a replace on the end. After the first five cards are out, you can replace one or stand pat. Then there's a simultaneous declare as to which way you're going: high, low, or both ways. Then a final round of betting. This gives the dealer a tremendous positional advantage. If you're last, you can almost play ATC and at least escape.

If you're a real thief, play it pot limit. :D

Cool comment on live family games.

I have a table and I have a direct game with friends.

From the variations I like the courchevel:

Courchevel is different from 5 Card Omaha because the first card of the flop is dealt face up in the beginning of the hand before the pre-flop betting round.
