I'm curious, what other games do poker players play? I ask the question because I believe that there is often a common thread to the games we play.

For example, I enjoy Scrabble and Chess. I see poker as a very similar game (at least the way I play it). It is a logic game and a puzzle. I enjoy the calculations and the strategy involved.

So, what other games do you play and how do you think they are similar (or different) then your interest in poker?

Honestly, Other than poker the only game that I have time for is golf. One big similiarity to poker that i see is when you screw up you've got noone else to blame.

A Hole in One or an Ace in the Hole

I know a lot of poker players that play golf. I play some, but my golf is much worse than my poker. I think another similarity is that both can be extremely frustrating at times. I have never been as aggravated by any game like poker or golf. Also, both are easy games to enjoy...but difficult games to get good at.

What??? There are other games besides poker?:eek::eek: You're kidding, right? ;)

Actually, I have been brushing up on my Chess game lately. Been reading a great learning tool: Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess. It's quick and concise, not bogged down with a lot of theory, just has you looking at given situations, and you figure out the right moves.

I also enjoy Scrabble, and Trivial Pursuit, various non-poker card games (spades being my favorite).

I grabbed his queen and yelled, "Allin Baby!"

Well, there are others...but they don't pay. Well, not completely true. I made $84 at a Scrabble tourney in Reno five years ago.

I will have to check out that book....I've seen it at the bookstore, but never opened it. If you ever get an itch to play online, I recommend the Internet Chess Club at chessclub.com. I play there regularly.

Well I must say that I have been a blackjack player longer then poker. My parents used it to help me with my math as a child. Other then that a little Risk, Chess, the total war series. Which if any of you are into or thought was to easy go to this link and install one of the modifications you can find there. http://twcenter.net/

Other then that I don't have many social hobbies. I think it is mostly due to the fact that in poker if I loose I blame myself if its anything else I get angry with others.

I play Magic the Gathering. A collectable card game that is like mini chess/war.

I spent alot of money on the cards in college and keep them around hopefully to teach my kids. I still break them out when some of my friends who know how to play want to get together.
