Hello there so first off let me say that I have been visiting this forum frequently in the past year and I decided to join and finally make my first post. The reason I took so long is that I feel like I wouldn't be accepted for the fact is that I am a 17 year old poker player. So I decided to ask you guys and/or girls,

What is your opinion about underage players?

Let me give a little background on myself in case anyone was wondering. Back in 2003 Chris Moneymaker won the wsop Main Event and made poker mainstream. So of course my dad and his friends for the next couple years started playing online and had weekly poker games like many people did. Thats when I started to enjoy poker and understand the game. Fast forward 8-9 years, Poker is starting to come back into my interest after watching shows and movies about the amazing game. So I start playing homegames with friends and family then I moved on to playing play money games on Full Tilt and pokerstars since I knew that at 16 I couldn't play for real money so I decided to get practice there and I built a roll up on those sites for fake money for the past year playing on and off because nobody can take play money that serious. I have watched many videos and study the game a lot. A couple weeks ago I put a minimum deposit onto BetOnline mainly because they are the only one to accept mastercard anymore in the US. I'm just trying to play the game I love right now even if it is at the micros. I have a job and I'm in my last year of school so whatever time I do have I use it playing at the tables. After I graduate I want to start playing full time and get on the grind. The dream is to make a living off doing something you love right? I'm just a kid with dream so if the dream comes true expect to see me at the 2018 WSOP Main Event (That's when I'm 21).

Thanks for reading and I am open to all opinions <3

Im sure all mods will agree that we cannot endorse underaged gambling here on CC. As for the rest of your post, i encourage your zeal for life, in seeking to do something that you enjoy as a profession. Take this time to study and learn the game as best you can. And don't take things too seriously until it gets serious.

Really you should be spending the time you spend studying the game on studying your studies. You should be spending the time you are on the tables outside with friends. Your youth is a very very important time, and will be gone before you know it, please do not waste it on a computer playing poker.

Poker will still be there next year or the year after.

I appreciate your guys honesty and completely understand. I will not put any CC member in the position to endorse underage gambling again. I apologize.
I will continue to study the game and will strive to become a better player. I have been able to manage my time very well between my job, friends, studies and poker and will continue to do so.

Poker is a good hobby at any age and as long it isn't interfering with the other important aspects of your life you should keep at it. I think it is a better hobby than video games although my kids and several others under 30 would not agree. :)

I just turned 18 yesterday. Ive been playing online sense I was 14 and havnt made a deposit on my own yet. My dad was always cool with me playing, just would never put any money in it for me. Two years ago I managed to grind up winnings from a freeroll (Couldn't have been more than $20) and ended up with a bankroll of $250+ with some ring games and lucky tournaments. Sadly I eventually blew that bankroll but it didn't really matter because I could never withdraw it anyway.

I think its fine as long as you can mentally handle the stresses of losing/winning and keeping focused on the more important things you need to do like finishing school and working and i mean you are 17 lol does 1 more year magically transform you into an adult i mean I'm 23 I'm a "adult" but was just as mch an "adult" at 17 lol have fun but keep it in moderation

Dont waste your time and concentration on poker at such young age.

You should finish study first as it should be your main priority. Then

after you already gradute you can decide whether to play poker or not.

I also became interested in poker at a very young age, I thought this would give me an edge when I became of age... Not sure that it did though. I wish I had spent more time getting better grades.

Just remember, degrees (not always) typically pay better than poker!
