Which is better for trying to become a better poker player but also work your way up bankroll wise?

I'm trying to decide if I should play online and multi-table low limit where I get 27% rakeback, OR play live casino 1/3.

I definitely play better live. Even though I only played in a casino once I just think about my decisions more, and its more enjoyable for me. However I feel there is better competition online which will make me a better poker player.

Online I play at .50nl so it would take a while to work up to 1/2 online.

My long term goal is to get good enough to be profitable in 1/3 cash games both live AND online and maybe try to be good enough to enter a big buy in tourney like a wsop regional or something and be competitive. I don't know if its better to log hours live or online to work towards this goal.

Anyone got any advice? thanks

I think that you'll be able to get way more volume in online. 50NL/100NL is probably about the same level of competition to live 1-3. Recently I've started watching videos and implementing new concepts/ideas into my own game. That will help. Also if you want to play in live circuit events try some freerolls or micro/low stakes tourneys. Hope this helps...

Playing online gives you the option to play for much lower stakes than you will find in any live cardroom at a casino. The benefits of this will allow you to build a bankroll in a much faster time, especially if you're multi-tabling.

As far as your poker game, I think live is the best. You learn how to bluff without blushing, take down pots with confidence, and most of all - read your opponents.

Reading your opponents and the bankroll amount is what I would say as the too largest contributing factors when playing online or live.

I don't believe anyone can consistently make money playing low limit online poker. Live is without a doubt the best way to go.

I prefer online but it can be tough for MTT grinding which sucks. I generally like MTTs but they're a lot tougher online and it's tough to roll yourself for live grinding.

I have the roll to play live 1/3. I just thought online might be more profitable with 27% Rakeback but at this time I don’t think I’m good enough to play 1/2 online. In person yes tho

Online I’d be at .50 and have to grind up. Unless I just jump into 1/2 and try to adapt quick but that sounds like a money burner and I’d be a fish in the skillet

Why not both? Online you play more hands per hour and you can more quickly test new ideas and learn. Also you can do it anytime when you have free time from your home and even mobile device. Live will teach you to better read other people and hide your own emotions. Also you maybe will be more focused live as there are no other things to distract you. Try both and see how it will go.

Casino or online

Personally I think if you can become a strong live player at casino's playing online will be easier to get comfortable a lot less stress involved.

Playing online is definitely a great way to learn the game and strategy, also the microstakes allow you to turn a little into a lot, but I find playing live/at the casino to be exponentially more fun.

IN the US, live is the only way to ensure you get paid. Online was more profitable, but that was before Black Friday.

$1/$2 or $3 will be softer with more recs than most online .10/.25 cash tables. You will have rec players in both pools, but more bb/100 will be had at live low stakes. But on the other hand you will be able to play 10/20x more hands per hour online playing multiple zoom tables, so your win rate per 100 hands will most likely be higher live, you will see lots for hands per hour online. You also need to figure in the cost and time wasted of traveling to and from the casino.

Live is by far the most profitable these days - the only caveat is if you can buy in for high stakes and be able to hold your own and ensure you get your winnings off the account early and just maintain a comfortable bankroll. Solid play in high stakes will be profitable and potentially more profitable than live.

I don't play high stakes, this is just based on math and my live exp.

After I lost a significant amount in the casino,
I prefer poker. Basically, I play MTT tournaments.

that's a big jump from playing .50nl online to 1/3 live in the aspect of bankroll. Personally I would go with whatever feels more comfortable. I keep the majority of my bankroll On-line, but that's just me. Also I have started to move away from NLH and started getting more into the mixed games, seems to me you have a lot more opportunity to make money there then you do in NLH assuming you truly understand the other games.

I prefer live for the sheer profitability however I love online tourneys way more than live. Much easier to get massive prize pools.

In my opinion, I would say online makes your game a little stronger, but love games is where the interaction and skill building comes into action. Online is crazy sometimes and it's fishy to me sometimes to be honest. I played alot of freerolls and alot of small cash games with a small deposit on whichever site I choose to practice and become a decent player. As for bankroll building, I got my bankroll pretty decent in both live and online. It all depends on how you're running because I've lost most of it in a blink of an eye, and made it all back plus more in another blink.

Overall I would say online freerolls would help make your game better and live would help alot with face to face interaction and learning how to bluff sometimes. It takes alot of time and practice to get really good, and even the really really good players take big losses sometimes.

As for bankroll building, I would also recommend freerolls. There are tons of sites who hold freerolls and satellites that are free and if you win them, you win money or a ticket into a bigger tournament for bigger money. I don't know how many people agree with me, but that's exactly what helped me and I'm not a bad player at all. On a normal basis I finish in top 100 out of 1,000 some people, and on a normal basis I finish top 50 out of 500 some people. I have all the screenshots and pictures to prove it.

Goodluck to everyone on the tables!

Choose for yourself where you will be comfortable to play, online there are a lot of freerolls where you can raise a bankroll and learn how to play to later play good expensive tournaments and win good money, choose a good site and start raising your bankroll!

To my mind, it's better to play online. But sometimes it's great to visit Casino and to feel the atmosphere

I'd say casino is much better than online just because of the fact it is real luck and not just online RNG (random number generator). I feel like the software has cheated me out of a few hands 😫

Volume is online but its tougher to play. You can have a smaller bankroll online and work your way up. Live play requires a larger bankroll and the variance can be higher.
