Please, can someone give me some tips. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with pokerstars. Check this out.

I've barely won a cracker on Stars for nearly 6 months. I've won a few small amounts, but nothing major. This has gone further downhill since I cashed out for $1200 nearly 7 months ago. However, I've recently signed up for PKR.com and on my 1st tourney, I won $40 followed by a $700 win on my second. Upto now, I've won just short of $1900 on PKR.com (in around 10 tournaments including winning 2 satellites too.

Pokerstars however, continues to frustrate.

Especially the BIG tournaments. I've just been playing in the Sunday $200,000 over at Pokerstars.

Basically, 25000 players start (making it one of the biggest tournaments on line)

Within 45 minutes, that 25000 is down to around 15000. Now, I know a lot of idiots play, but some of the hands are setups.

I've just seen 6 guys, YES 6 go out within 5 minutes.

One guy had QQ against someone with KK.

Another had JJ vs QQ

Another had 98s vs QQ on a flop of 8-9-Q

Another had AK vs KK on a flop of A-K-9

Another had 33 vs A5 on a flop of 2-3-4

And the last, ME had QQ vs KK on a flop of 2-7-8 (ie NO way am I folding there).

It's ridiculous. I nearly folded that QQ because I just knew the guy had AA or KK. But sensible poker play prevailed, and instead of going with my superstitious inclination, I opted to play and subsequently got knocked out.

Fair enough, these types of hands DO crop up in normal play - however, they crop up FAR FAR too often online. Like literally ALL THE TIME. I love Poker, and want to believe that this type of thing doesn't go on, but I'm convinced it does.

When I first started playing online (Pokerstars) (for I've been quite successful offline before that) I COULDNT STOP WINNING. I started playing with play money chips, and earned over 7 million within 3 months, seriously could not stop winning.

I then decided to start playing for real money and for the first few months I was consistently winning. Then I dropped off a little, then I'd win a tournament, then not win anything for weeks, then win another (even though I was playing exactly the same poker and the same limits). I then withdrew a large chunk of money (around 1200 dollars) 6 months ago, and now it's gotten even worse. It's shocking (But yet I still win consistently OFFLINE).

Does anyone else think that online poker could be rigged in some way, that encourages newbies to WIN by giving them MORE OPPORTUNITY to HIT or something like that? I mean, some of the hands I see a pure fairytale. I think I'll go back to playing play money to boost my morale. (which i also think is a marketing tool to make players feel that they can do very VERY well online...)

It's a joke. A sad joke.

I'm thinking about quitting stars, but I love the software and want to do well at Poker - but I believe, unless I get a large chunk of luck or that particular SITE takes pity on me, I'll never do well.

Cmon you have been playing poker for how long and you seriously think pokerstars is rigged?

Uh, no. Ive seen far worse than what you have described in a much shorter amount of time.

This is nothing. Dont play LOLdonkaments as much, highest varience you will ever encounter in poker. Like I said, these hands are standard.

Yes, I do believe it is. I've been playing Poker for years, and the way in which I started out online, is pretty much the way I BELIEVED I would continue. 2 years on, and it hasn't panned out that way. I've read all the books there are, I've browsed these forums, sucking up tips - but my luck just won't change.

It's gotten to the stage where I don't even enjoy playing anymore because I know I'm going to be in for a nasty surprise. And it happens all too often.

What niggles me though, is WHY when I first started - I did SO well, even in the first tournaments I played. But after the first 3-4 months of play, It was hit or miss (not skill) whether I won ANYTHING.

There has to be a winner and a loser in each hand. Believe it or not but 2 players cant both win the pot all for themselves.

Those hands you posted are soooooo standard, they wouldnt even tilt me being on the bad end of them, its just poker.

Ive seen wayyyyyy worse beats playing at the local casino than those hands above, way, way worse.

So my local B&M casino is rigged too, I suppose. The GAME OF POKER IS RIGGED!!!111

Variance. Completely normal to break even/lose for many months at a time playing tournaments.

If thats not happening than you are playing on an unreal site.

Stars is the biggest site in the world. If you play there you will run into a lot of fish and alot of sharks. If you are having trouble winning on any site don't play there. Go to the softer sites and improve your game.:):)

Only bad players blame the site.

Please, don't insult my intelligence sir. It only makes you look foolish.

Ok, I'll rephrase it. Online Poker ISN'T rigged, but it is ridiculously unrealistic.

Take another hand I had, AA vs 33 - I hit an Ace on the flop, only for the last 2 cards to be 3's. I mean, come on - who are they trying to fool?

LMAO! In making statements like that, no one has to "insult your intelligence". You're doing a fine job of showing your lack of it all by yourself.

What the hell did you expect by posting stuff like this? Did you think everyone was going to say " Yeah, you are right. Online poker is so fake. We only play it to waste our money on the entertainment."? Those of us who are winning players at this "ridiculously unrealistic" game are laughing at you right now. So just give it up and post some hand histories or something. Maybe we can help.

Like literally ALL THE TIME.

You're using the word "literally" incorrectly.

What you meant was, it happens a mathematically inordinate amount of the time.

I think you're having a problem with selective memory. When we get our AA cracked by TJ suited we remember it. When we crack someone else's AA with TJ suited, we tend to forget it.

If you have a way to track all your play after several 100,000's of hands, I'm sure you'll fine your Aces hold up as often as they're mathematically supposed to.

But your memory will play tricks on you and you'll feel like you're getting the short end.

As far as MTT's go, you've got to play in thousands of them before you'll have an accurate measuring stick of your game. The fact that you had some success early on or that you can go long periods between cashing are standard.

I hope you don't succumb to the "action flops", "cashout curse", and "rigged RNG's" rants of the tin-foilers.

A way to avoid this is by putting in the volume and keeping accurate stats. Not relying on faulty human memory.

the reality is, is that as much as we (me to at times) would like to say this has to be rigged, would these multi million dollar web sights really risk all that cash, their reputation, and untold lawsuits to rig the game in anyones favor much less play money players? don't think so. online and live poker really are different games. if you've read all the books you said you have you'd know this cause they all say it. maybe you're just better at live play.
