Hey every one, I am happy to say I've recently learned a bunch about poker, learning how to play with pot odds and not only with position and gut.

I was wondering, how many of you players play with pot odds when making a call. Do you only rely on pot odds, do you rely on pot odds and player history or do you rely on pot odds, player history and gutz?

Another thing I would love to know, how many of you have been called a donkey for calling a 450 raise pre flop on a 7 to 1 pot with a mediocre hand?

Thanks for your inputs guys.

depends.

You will have a hundred replies to this I'm sure. Best poker advise I could give is stick with free rolls. If your calling 450 pre flop with a 20,000 chip stack I would not call that a donkey play---If your betting 450 pre flop and you only have a 1,200 chip stack---then that could be considered a donkey.Good luck at the tables. May the flop be with you. :D

calling with the wrong odds will lose you money in the long run
however if you think villain is bluffing then you could
possibly (semi bluff) raise if you have a strong draw
depends on you read of the player.
also read up on IMPLIED odds ,you may not have expressed odds (current odds)to call, but implied odds could make the call (or raise) correct.
when playing draws make sure you are drawing to the nuts (or near nuts)
chasing draws to the second best hand will cost a lot of chips
if you hit your draw
plenty of info available here and online
good luck
