I'm thinking about travelling to america sometime over the coming year but I was wondering am I allowed to play on pokerstars in america? I know americans can't but as a non-US citizen is there some law that would not allow it? Sory if it seems a dumb question but don't ever remember seeing an answer written anywhere

It is not permitted to play while in the United States under any circumstances.
Visiting from another country is not an exception and is not permitted according to poker stars Support.

Really? You can't even give up playing while on vacation??? Wow.

I could not play for the duration of the holiday, however that sounds shit and would ruin holiday. Also I want platinum star and missing first month is shit enough as it is :(

Another example of over-reaching by our govt. Not only do they impose our laws on visitors to this country, but they also got pokerstars to impose our laws on Americans visiting other countries. Must be nice to have it both ways.

I never thought I would lose hope about Pokerstars coming back to the U.S., but finally I caved in and cashed out, I cant say anything about our government that hasn't been already said here at the forums, its just sad.

Still Hoping

I am hoping that the Fed. will license poker, or at least the states. I know not all states will.

Well I'm SOL no matter what happens. I live in Texas and for whatever reason, our government is against all forms of gambling with the exception of the Texas Lottery and greyhound racing. casinos are in every single state bordering Texas so that's where everyone goes to gamble. They're complaining about how much lottery sales are declining but turn a cold shoulder to even online poker. Instead they look to layoff teachers, police officers and firemen to accomodate a huge budget deficit. 50% of Louisiana's gambling revenue comes from Texans yet they STILL would rather see that many go there than stay and help the state of Texas...ridiculous.

Yea, I am from Houston, but live in germany now. Texas has some real backwards way of doing things in some respects, thats for sure. Exactly like you described above. One of the reasons I will never live in Texas again.

What gets on my nerves the most is that the lottery has the worst odds ever and there are people everywhere addicted to these stupid scratch off tickets. They're constantly advertising the lottery everywhere yet they are completely closed off to even entertaining the thought of online poker. You know what...how's the Germany life lol? :p

Germany is pretty cool. I must admit, it dont really matter where I live, I will find something to bitch about..lol. The weather here is pretty suk-ass, but then again the Houston weather was brutal. I miss a good steak tho. Texas beef rules IMO. And good Mexiacn food is pretty much non existent in Munich. The Bavarian women tho, now that will convert ya pretty quick :)

Online poker is a grey area here, and it is getting political, with the Government not looking to make things better or easier. 15 from 16 states are voting to either regulate it - ala pokerstars.fr, or outlaw it. So we dont know yet which way its gonna go. But the 1 out of 16 states wanting online poker legal is good, since it has to be unanimous, as far as I understand the law. So it may continue for a while no matter what, just cause of bureaucracy.

Hahaha...yea I don't know if I could handle not being able to have Texas steak or Mexican food at least once a week lol. Hopefully nations worldwide will fully support online poker beginning this year...however, I'm not holding my breath lol. :p

Well i'm not suggesting this (oh no!) but u could use a proxy ip address from another country to avoide the ban (I think)

Thought of that but reading on 2p2 (What a pokerstars representative wrote) it can end up getting you banned and funds seized with no guarentee you'll get it back jsut because you're a non-US citizen, so I'd rather not take risk.
