The past few weeks have brought about a slew of terrible news for the online poker industry in the U.S. Lock Poker finally went under it seems after bilking players of millions of dollars, Carbon/Merge seems to have ceased payouts for the time being, and now just yesterday WPN cancelled its highly popular debit card withdrawal option, and not only that, but players are reporting they cannot get access to balances that had already been withdrawn. All in all, this has not been a good few weeks for online U.S. poker players.

Bovada seems to be the last site standing that has not as of yet experienced cashout issues. Is there any hope for us?

It's not dead just severely wounded :D The games are harder now than they have ever been. The good news is, if you can beat the games online you can DEF beat the games live. So although it is a tougher playing field, it prepares you to get really good at the game if you work hard. Def not dead though. I see bad players in tourneys ALL the time still :) Cash is def way hard tho for novice players.

On line Poker

I sure hope that On Line Poker is not dead. I am hoping it will make a come back at some point.

Since Black Friday, I have seem to lost interest in on line poker. I use to play several hours every day. Now maybe play a few freerolls on Cardschat.

We can only hope that it returns.

Bummer

This is a real bummer. One reason I have lost interest in On Line Poker. Don't expect a payout if win.

I guess that's why I play on a subscription site. No way to lose money. I've made over $1,000 in the past year. But, no way to deposit, so no way to lose. Not a way to make a living, but it satisfies the poker "fix". And, if I don't get paid, I'm only really out my time.

It is a real shame that there are so many restrictions in the USA. It restricts the games on here with so many good players not able to play. I hope that it is not dead and one day we will all be able to play all sites again.

What!? People are having cashout issues at Carbon now? I was planning to make a deposit there soon. I've actually been meaning to for awhile now, for once my procrastination pays off I guess.. I'm on the fence whether or not to just withdraw my funds off of bovada. I worry it's only a matter of time before the bovada rug is pulled from under us as well.. And since the country thawed the action has dried up..

Online poker provides convenience and fun that otherwise would be imposible for some. No, online poker is not dead. In fact, it is the income of most die hard grinders. The legal factors always bring a scare, but until the big crackdown happens.. gotta juice it while you can.

I think that the authorities of USA simply issue licenses to its proven poker rooms.

Bovada is our last true line of defense this poker site is legit and feels more live due to the anonymous table layout. It also allows you to work on your reads and time quality rather than quantity. Game selection will be the difference of you winning or losing due to not being able to track players or database.

I'm crossing my fingers that California is next in line to legalize poker.

Carbon/Merge seems to have ceased payouts for the time being

Why do people continue to say this when it is quite obvious it isn't true at all.

PAYOUTS ARE TAKING A LONG TIME, THEY HAVEN'T CEASED AND HAVE BEEN ONGOING THE WHOLE TIME.

People piss me off with this BS.

Online poker sucks for US players right now. Period.

NY is hopefully going to get online 1-3 years I hope. Once NJ gets stars in the next 4-6 months and CA and PA go online, it'll come back slowly.

poker sites should never be losing money

we play against each other not the house

zero risk involved for the house

makes no sense to me

maybe these crooks took the players funds and bet on nba or something

poker players make the worst sports bettors

poker sites should never be losing money

Poker sites have all of the expenses of any online business, including facilities and marketing costs. Consider items such as deposit matching, refill bonuses, tournament add-ons, covering overlays, rakeback and paying affiliates. Anyone who runs any kind of business can tell you that none of this comes cheap. Because of these costs and others a couple of regulated sites in New Jersey and Nevada have failed over the past year.

Without question, there have been some well reported excesses; however, to say that poker sites should never lose money is just a little unrealistic.

Cheers!
