I am trying to find out what must be done in order for this to get pushed through. Can he just have it happen? Is another vote needed? What about making Poker exempt as a skill game as has been requested by others members of Government.

I voted for President Bush the first time around. With this last screw up he is going to make me wish I didn't.

As a side note government should not be regulating online gambing just like they should not be taxing the internet. This power grab by our government has got to stop.

Let responsible adults do what they want with their hard earned money. No one stops people from taking loans they can;t afford. if anything get to work on fixing that mess instead of bothering with online skill games.

Our government is so out of control, they are taking away the very liberties that our forefathers sacrificed their lives to provide us. We as the people of the United States have got to take a stand or pretty soon we will all be working for them and getting what pittance they decide to dole out to us. It is crazy what has happened during the last 20 years or so and the speed of their infringement upon our lives in rapidly increasing.

I hope we can get some answer on what is required to make this stinking thing a real pain the @$$ for us.

Poker is a game of skill, although the donkeys I play with are going to be the reason it ends up in the game of luck category

LOL

On a serious note I am going to spend some tme tomrrow trying to find out just how hard/easy this will be to get passed before January 20th.

The government loves to drive a stake through anything that cannot be taxed efficiently. I can't imagine them banning online poker. If it does come to that, I'm out of here. It's an indication of the infringements on civil liverties to come.

I agree with first point, in the end they will ban it until they find a way to tax it, meanwhile countless players might lose their BRs as sites are shut down. As for the second point on the general assault on civil liberties, yes you are right. Dont think even Obama can help us with that.... but kinda hope so..

I just realized the point on losing your bankroll. I wonder how that issue will be resolved. Barack Obama had limited power overrall anyway. I can't believe how gullible people are to believe that one man can change the course of the country. People forget the powerful and influential lobbyists, CEO's, and corrupt members of power throughout the country. I just hope this crappy legislation doesn't get passed.

See this thread. Basically the bill passed in 2006. Just recently the fed has decided to further enforce it. But they ****ed it up, got it late, and a bill Clinton passed makes it so a simply party-line vote could reverse much of Bush's midnight orders and such. We need to make sure poker's on that list. See the thread for more details.

I think that was Zach and not Vanquish?

It's also quite disgusting that with the shit hole Bush has put this country in, the only thing he is worried about getting stopped/changed anymore is an internet game

This is actually the good part, he pushed through a ton of other shit, including apparently some environmental deregulation. The Democrats will want to change those. If Frank can get poker on the list WITH those regulations to repeal with a party line vote, we win. If it isn't important enough to the Dems, then we have to wait for the bills to make their way through Congress which could take another 1-2 years and then possibly not even pass.

hookers, dope and cash

what's going on with gambling is the same stuff that's going on with prostitution and marijuana. the politicians need to get wise and tax those things and fund our public schools and find alternative sources for energy.

If online poker is illegal, then credit cards should be illegal. I'm sure more people have gotten themselves in tremendous debt from credit cards. The government tries to front like they're doing this crap to protect people from themselves, when everyone with half a brain knows they're doing it cause there is no way to tax efficiently (unless we're all honest on our taxes). But what I want to know is...
1.) I thought alot of these poker sites were out of the country, so they cant shut them down, right.?!
2.) And if they make it hard for us to cash checks from poker sites, is it really gonna take that long for the sites to maybe pay paypal type accounts then have the money transfered to your bank from there. Then the bank wouldnt be accountable, cause they don't know it came from a poker site originally...do they?? Hey...the cash is from ebay:)

Anyway, hopefully The big B (arack) will put an end to this BS...I heard he was a poker fan!!
