I would definitely agree that it can be addicting. It is generally accepted that anything becomes an addiction when it causes substantial harm (bodily, personal life, work, etc.) and is repeated in spite of that. I think just liking to play a lot isn't enough, but if it causes problems with your relationships or your work, and yet you continue to play, it is an addiction.
The big problem is, while addiction may have a genetic component for some people, it can develop for others. So while you may not be addicted when you start playing, it may become an addiction later. Also, lots of people (myself included) like to play and either drink, smoke, do drugs,etc. which just multiplies the problem.
I've definitely had times where I played too much, but that would only last a couple weeks or so and then was able to stop and focus on other things.
