So, I have been at Trump Taj Mahal since yesterday. I sit @ a 1/2nl table. Now I have been playing with the same people for about 2 hours. I get into a hand with another lady and gentleman, both to my right. Flop is out turn comes and I fold. Before the river comes out the guy says go ahead I have a straight flips over his cards and says to the table this is my wife I am not betting against her. I asked the dealer is this allowed. He says it was fine and laughs. I guess because I questioned it. So, I asked the floor as well. It was okay with him too. So, after they say it's okay the man starts to go off on me because I asked.

Two questions:

Did I overreact?
Also, when no action is made after a card comes out and first to act flips his cards aren't those cards supposed to be considered dead?

Thanks.

It may be irritating but you nor anyone at the table except the couple in question has any stake in the pot at this point so why make a fuss? Once you know they are husband and wife use it for what it is worth . In this instance if his hand is dead then his wife takes the pot and it goes to the same place at nights end , in a tourney it might matter if someone gets knocked out etc. but cash not really relevant.

theres nothing you can do about it, the cards are dead and his wife takes the pot, if you have any problem with it you can just up and leave or accept it and carry on playing and use what you know to take thier cash.

It's softplaying which is against the spirit of the game. That said, it's hard to see the house doing anything based on a single instance. Seems like the floor could tell the guy it's a softplay so there's no doubt if he does it again that he knows he shouldn't.

If the pot/hand was HU and they both don't mind it is fine. But if there is another player in the hand it depends.
