I want to start off by saying that these forums have been a great help with book suggestions. There's a lot of them, and will certainly help out in a couple weeks when my dad's birthday rolls around again.
I am, however, looking for a windows game suggestion that's 100% offline and doesn't involve timed chips or similar money grabs. The game is for my computer illiterate 73 year old father.
He enjoys his books, his twice weekly games with friends and the occasional trip to the casino... and he also liked playing the game that was on his laptop before the hard drive died and needed to be replaced. He's been asking me to reinstall it again, but I lost the disk and have no idea what it was called.
So. Would anyone be able to suggest a replacement? Something with "regular" games plus tournaments and an intelligent AI with varying difficulty levels in a simple to use package. I know that game AIs aren't perfect and for practicing a game against actual people would be better, but he gets confused about everything that goes with online games: timing on new chips, etc. Social media integration would also be a negative.
He's a retiree just looking to have fun while killing time. Any suggestions on a title?
