Is there a site where I can find the official rules of NL Texas Hold 'em? I've looked and seen sites to teach you to play and a list of unofficial rules, but no actual comprehensive rulebook type thing. This should include topics such as declaration of bet vs. action, along with rules on how to play the game, best hand, when each betting round is, flop, turn, river, etc. Is there any such document?

Full Tilt has a beginners guide under "Help" on the top bar, "Games Guide" on the drop-down menu. The guides are about as basic as you can get.

I've seen the Roberts Rules of Poker, and I'm not looking for a beginner's guide. I know how to play poker. I just wanted to know if there was an actual rulebook. I own a baseball rulebook, is there anything similar to that for poker (NLHE to be specific)? From what I've seen Roberts Rules of Poker isn't really a rulebook, just rules of courtesy, what to do in irregular situations, etc. casinos have to go by some rulebook right? I just can't find one anywhere.

I could be wrong on this, but since there is not a main 'governing' body for poker, there probably is no "official rule book". With baseball, you also probably have to get a MLB, NCAA... rule book. Football: NFL, NCAA... Racing: NASCAR... In games/sports there are technically no official rules, unless under a particular governing body. The closest you could come would be to find a wsop or WPT rule book. Even then they are usually just rules regarding tournies. Roberts Rules will be the closest you will come to "official" rules. I'm not asking this to be rude, it's and honest thought to your question; who would create the rule book you are looking for? The answer to that would more than likely be no one in particular, and the second answer may be WSOP or WPT or which ever governing body is controlling where you play poker i.e. a hotel/casino/bar.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Poker rules

Hi all,
Assuming you don't want to buy a rule book there are quite a few sites which list the basic rules of the game. I suppose it depends on what it is you want it for. If it is to publish on a website then you can just copy it from one of these sites. I just found this one which has the basic rules for poker
The Official Texas Hold Em Rule Book

Don't know if thats what your looking for though, the rules are pretty basic anyway until you start getting into actually playing the game and go into strategies etc...

Tony:)

I think most big tournaments adopt the rules of the Tournament Directors' Association - which are fairly simple, but outlined here:

Robert's Rules isn't official enough?! I would hardly call it a "beginner's guide, and it comprehensively covers everything you mentioned and more.

Anyway, if you want something in print:
Lou Krieger also has a book, see here.
Roy Cooke has a book, see here.
