Personally I don't care for the 4 month hiatus between the ME and the FT. I can understand the reasons but it seems to me probable that at least one november niner in the next decade will miss the final table. it doesn't even have to be because they die, but perhaps they are a foreigner and can't get their passport renewed, perhaps they have a parole violation and are incarcerated or can't leave the state, perhaps they get an aggressive illness, et cetera. I do wonder what the contingency plan in such situations will be.

I'd guess in the next decade there will be more than 1 who doesn't show up.

He would just "sit out" the whole tourney until he/she runs out of chips....or they could just start the final table with 8

i think this is unlikely to happenen barring a death of course, the amount of money at stake is too much for someone to miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity, im probably wrong but my opinion is it wont happen

some more reasonable- scilicet, less tragic and more responsible- explanations: perhaps they are a college student; perhaps they are a serviceman; perhaps they are in a graduate program for which they spent years and years working to achieve and go on some anthropological fieldwork or a zoological expedition.

one's life doesn't end just because they've got a lot of money. there's a lot of minutes in the day which can't be spent simply counting money... unless you are an accountant.

Im playing, too big of a difference between 9th and 1st. I believe about 10 yrs ago I heard raising a child from birth to 18 cost about $1 million. Of course if I was already well off enough to be buying into a $10k tourney, I might not care that much about the $5 million.

very good question. i actually was wondering the same thing. but i really think they wont be able to do anything abut it besides giving the money to his family for what ever place he gets. but i really do want to know if there is an actual ruling on this topic

For the amount of money you can win my wifey would have something to say: "Get your butt to Vegas and win that money".

Meh, you can schedule your kids delivery date these days for a normal pregnancy. Just have the Doc induce a week or so early and you get to be there for the birth and win $$ a few days later. np.

I was waiting for this lol!!!!

We alllll know if Phil Hellmuth would make the FT of the ME he would show up like 5 hours late.... But on a serious note I'm sure they would just start with 8 and chip you off....
