Okay, Ive been a Poker player for a while now.

Im in a league called the PPL. Which i love, dont get me wrong. Its great, good community, offers exclusive freerolls yadadada.

But i think that league and the ones ive seen around the web, are really for hardcore players. and i mean hardcore players as in This is my day job. I would love to be able to play poker as my day job. Ive been thinking about it for a long time (plus with the big $1,500 win a few days ago). I just dont think i have the bankroll to do it right now. And Ive worked so hard on my Computer business / Webdevelopment.

These league, ask for representation, which i dont mind. PPL just asks for a shout out to them when you win a tournament.

But they want you to be active in the forums, and particapate in there Freeroll tournaments, which i cant always do. I cant run on there time. I have a family and all that.

Is anybody else in a League? whats your experience? I'd like to know.

The PPL's membership website is very cultish like. There member's forums & pages they hide from the general public. makes me think there going to make me drink some koolaid or something when we all go to the world series of poker or something.

This is a very interesting topic. I've recently been invited into league play by another forum where I play the FR's. I really only have time to play in one FR that they offer per week. I've had great results, but again I'm limited on time. I really enjoy just "showing up to play" without the strings. Sorry if I didn't answer directly. I just wanted to comment and read the responses. Good thread.

I dont actually have an answer that helps either.
But Im glad you posted this. I have recently started looking at some of the differant leagues for when my BR permits me to start doing those kind of things.
One of the things I noticed was how full the scheduals are. Most of them have games/tours every day, some have more than 2 a day.
I tried contacting one league for more information (beacuse the forums were hidden) and the only reply I got was to join to read the forum. Ummm, ya that didnt help me decide if I wanted to join.
Alot of them look really cool if you have the time and all thou.
I am looking forward to replies to this thread too.

i like to play poker as much as i can in my free time but don't think i would be able to league play. missing a single game could result in not being able to win it. i don't think you should compete in anything if you can't give it 100%.

This is actually a big issue with me and a good point. I hate the fact that some of these promos are "all in" or basically you have no chance. For example, on FT they run the SnG madness and if your not watching the clock for the beginning and sprinting to the finish you have no shot at a top overall finish. Alot of the leagues seem to have monthly standings, but you may have to play in three to five games a week... who has the time? Maybe I'm getting a little off point but are there part-time weekend leagues LOL?

I work any five days out of seven, so it's not practical for me to commit myself to anything like that... :(
