Not showing your hands all in

if the hand is heads up then yes the hand shouldn't continue until hes flipped up his cards. but if there is more than one other person in the hand it remains hidden until it becomes heads up.

I have seen this in live games at the casino.
During a cash game, it seems the players all in are not required to "show" their hole cards if they choose not to.
During a tournament, I have never seen a player not "show" their hole cards. When there is an all in at the table, the dealer instructs the players to turn their cards over and "show".
I guess it depends on the game being played.

I'm pretty sure at casinos your not required to show in a cash game but it's all about preference.

in cash games you dont have to i work at a casino and no cash games you dont have to but in sitngos and tourneys the rule is if a player is all in and obviously cant bet anymore then players must show their hands before another card is dealt. if they refuse we put them on a 30sec clock and if they dont show once 30 sec are up then they are considered a mucked hand and the other player wins the pot.

I never knew that tournaments and cash games were different in that way. Is there a real reason for this? I guess it's simply because in a cash game even if someone is all in they could buy back into the game and 'showing' may screw up whatever reputation they had at the table...

The standard rule is to show the cards Face up in a tournament. The rule to show the cards face was introduced to prevent players from colluding.

House Rules may override the standard rules.

When in doubt always ask before the situation comes into play.

Yeah, it's a house rules thing. If that's the norm and everybody's allowed to do it in your game then it's not a problem.

Usually it's allowed in cash games but the cards have to be shown in tournaments as soon as players are all in and there's no more betting to discourage chip dumping. And remember that in either case if a player that's been dealt into the hand asks to see a hand that's been shown down it has to be turned over.
