What's up everyone. I'm not really playing poker anymore, but I like (most) of you guys and like this forum, so I'm going to continue posting. My post that one night, was, well, I'm sure a lot of you guess, a ton of frustration. I may or may not have a gambling problem. I mean, it sucks that I lost all that money, but all, in all, I haven't deposited on a poker site in at least 6 months. I built that roll on party I had going from a $25 bonus they gave me, it's not like I sold everything like a crackhead to get money to gamble with, I was just sooooooo mad because I could have really used that money, seeing as how I'm going back to school full time starting next month. But I appreciate the positive replies and support you guys shot me on that thread.

Just to clarify a little- I'm not sure how my post got turned into a discussion about whether or not poker is really "gambling" but here's my true viewpoint. Poker is gambling if you want it to be. And Poker is DEFINATELY ALWAYS gambling when you are playing way over the stakes your bankroll can support. I mean, think about it like this- One hand of hold'em is dealt out, face up. You flop the nut straight, your opponet has a flush draw. Would you bet your house, car, life savings, etc.? if you win you "double up" in life, but if you get outdrawn... well, you kinda see what im getting at.

Whether or not online poker should be illegal is sort of a double edge knife in my mind. On one hand, making it illegal is totally infringing on the rights of citizens. If online gaming is tested and PROVEN to be legit, as in the deck is NEVER rigged, then there is no difference, other than the fact that you are playing ONLINE, than gambling in live casinos. But, on the other hand, you are providing easy access to underage and in some cases VERY underage people. I don't think most high school kids can mentally handle high stakes gambling online. If you care head over to pocketfives and find the recent post by "stealthmunk" the 17 year old kid that took down the sunday million last month. You have to admit, someone could go on uncontrollable tilt one night and throw away their entire life savings in a few hands of high stakes poker online. But overall, I don't like the idea of the government telling us what we can do.

So I'll be posting here and there, I'll probably even reply to some strategy threads because I feel I can give some good advice on that topic and I still love to play poker

Glad to hear you are hanging around the forum Dingo. I would agree with your above opinion on poker & gambling. My problem with your earlier post was what I took to be your assertion that poker is bad & Uncle Sugar should protect us from ourselves. I have read enough of your posts & replys to know that you are smarter than that. Anyway if I seemed overly harsh or indifferent in my reply sorry, I was banging on the message not the messanger. Good luck & looking forward to seeing you around the site.

Hey glad to see you are sticking around. There is so much in life that can be addictive. Have you noticed it's always the fun stuff? No one is addicted to cleaning toilets.
You are doing the right thing in taking a breather and judging where you are heading. Whether you come back to playing or not you will be always welcome here.

As with just about everything else in life, the secret is balance I think. And sometimes when we got out of balance with something we need to stop it altogether, at least for awhile, to get that balance back.

Glad to see you noticed it was that time for you regarding online poker and also glad to see you will still be hanging around to chat............. this is a great "family."
*hugs*

Glad to know what the score was with you Dingo. With a better explanation I can see that you need to strengthen your mind before you get to the bigger stakes again or poker in general. Glad to see that you havnt completely abandoned us and I am looking forward to see how you are doing in the future. GL and keep us posted
