Noble Poker WSOP Seat

Hi Everyone,

Just got an e-mail from Noble. There is a tournament this Saturday night for a seat at the wsop.

The buy-in is $52 but there is a maximum of 100 entrants! I mean you are not going to get a better chance of a seat than this for a minimal buy-in

I got that email, it's a great promo and definitely worth while. I believe Grum was considering it.

Yeah, I saw that, too. Verrrrry interesting. I'm surprised it's not filling up any faster than it is with a cap at 100 players. Nick, you and Grum let me know if you guys decide to play it. You'll not get shorter odds with a cheaper buy-in for a $13,000 package, that's for sure!

UPDATE!!

I just went to the Noble tournament page with the intent to see how many people had signed up for the $52 WSOP event. The email we received today very clearly stated that this tournament would be limited to 100 players, right? Well, the tournament menu is now showing a maximum of 250! I liked my odds a lot better (sans handicapping) at 1 in 100 than 1 in 250. And who's to say the ceiling won't be lifted again before Saturday?

I don't know about you guys, but this whole thing lately with the poker sites making it up as they go with no sense of integrity in their advertising is really getting old. It's like walking down the midway listening to a bunch of carnival barkers shilling at you! I think I'll take a pass on this WSOP promo just on the principle of being baited with one pitch, then switched to another.

I emailed Noble support to ask for an explanation. I'll let you know what they have to say.

Clarification from Noble

Okay, guys. As mentioned in the previous post, I emailed Noble support and asked them about the apparent contradiction between their email advert and the poker tournament details as to maximum players. I wish I hadn't deleted the original email they sent, but I did, so I can't go back and look at it.

Noble support says that the email did NOT say the tournament was limited to 100 players. Supposedly, the copy read that there was a MINIMUM number of 100 registrants required. I'm not sure how the minimum number impacts "Great Odds!", which was the focus of the pitch, so I believe it was some more "up the sleeve" stuff from Noble. There was nothing in the email specifically stating the maximum allowed in the field, they say.

So, the bottom line is a $52 (+$5) buy-in with at least 100 registrants required and a maximum number allowed of 250. As of this post at 1:23 p.m. Eastern time on 6/09, there are 60 enrolled.

I have a hunch that everybody is hanging back, like I am, to see where the numbers go. (Of course, what's going to happen is that it's going to look like a small field on Saturday night, then everyone jumps in all at once, and...voila! A full tournament of 250 at the last minute.)

I'm missing something here... the WSOP seats cost $10,000 right? and $50 from each person who registers on noble poker goes to the cost of the seat? (Thats how qualifiers work) and theres a max of 100? That comes to a total of $5000 plus $200 profit for noble poker...where does the other $5000 come from? I'm sure noble poker wouldnt just throw in another 5 thousand from their poket...

So it only STARTS with 100ppl....but how the hell can ppl join once the tourney has started??

Yeah, it's actually NOT guaranteed to "start with ONLY 100 players". That would be nothing more than a roundabout way of saying the field is restricted to 100 players. Which is how at least four of us took it. It will really start with somewhere between 100 players (the minimum) and 250 players (the max). So, how exactly does starting with 100 players impact my odds of winning? It's the final number of registrants that influences that. Very shady advertising there.

And to answer the previous post about number of entry fees not adding up to the purse. It's not unusual for sites to add money to the prize pool to generate buzz for a special event. The prize pool does NOT always reflect 100% buy-in's.

i know somewhere where you can get better odds of going to the wsop, for free but it is only for uk people private message or email me and ill give you where its at the website, but i will not give you the password...

Anybody else get their lame apology email from Noble about the promotion of last night's WSOP tournament? Yeah, mine came at 3:30 this morning, SIX HOURS AFTER the start of the event. Basically said, "Ooops. Everybody's human. We all make mistakes. But, you'll be happy to know that we dropped the minimum enrollment from 100 to 50 so that the tournament would be sure to go forward. 155 players competed." So what? Irrelevance on top of irrelevance on top of irrelevance.

They think we're really stupid. But I've got the ultimate consumer's response. I'm not going to give them another nickel. (Sorry about future play-for-pay Cardschat tourneys at Noble, but I won't be there. I'll join you on another site.) My few bucks in the account will remain to entitle me to any future Cardschat freeroll winnings without jumping through their hoops, but that's it. :reddy:

Why don't you guys just play on paradise the freeroll WSOP?

I am with you on this one Rammer. I havent deposited with them and I wont be either.

I desposited with Ladbrokes yesterday and won 3 Sit & Go's! Game on

I think that it could have been a genuine error since the minimum was always 100, ie, the same number as the e-mail said was the cap.


With 152 players playing, everyone still had $85.52 equity for a $52 BUY-IN. That was still a great deal. I would have been there but have had trouble depositing.
