How do I recover from the No Limit blues I always get called pre flop then get raised all in after I check on the flop and this is where I get real scared because I don't have the nuts I should fold? I have the second best hand call and lose....or... better yet I have the nuts on flop and get rivered out. How does one get so lucky?
should I consider learning to be an phsycic? should I read the books on poker - to tell you the truth I never read any book on poker yet- someone guide me to the right posts or articles or blogs I need a push.

Thanks

I'm Ready to take a piss on the online poker tables.

No worries, FP's 5-step Turn-Into-A-Winner Program is for you!

1. Move to limit poker for the time being. You may have a lot of concepts yet to learn, and limit is a better place to understand them. It's not because you're "safer" in limit, it's because you remove an axis of decision making ("how much") and thus making the fundamentals easier (call/raise/fold).
2. Buy Small Stakes Hold'em (SSHE) by Ed Miller. Read it once, then read it again.
3. Play online at a table. Play 100 hands. Afterwards, review how you played each hand with how SSHE says you should play it. When you're not sure, post the hand in the Hand Analysis Forum.*
4. Buy PokerTracker, or keep score of your sessions in Excel (or some other spreadsheet program). Tracking progress is important to see if you're improving.
5. Post your success story here in this thread, in about 6 months' time. Bookmark it so you can find your way back.

* Step 3 should be repeated for a few weeks - or possibly longer.

Good luck!
/FP

If you're making a move to limit poker, you defintely need to read soemthing about limit poker before you start playing. You need to play differently in limit than you do in no-limit. Step 2 is a must!

Why the choice between limit and no-limit. Why not pot-limit? You get a lot more post flop play there and you can still vary your bet more than limit.

Great 5 step program FP; glad that you posted it. Hope that a lot of the new players will take time to read and try it to help them break into NL.

Tighten up your game and believe in yourself. You are just in a slump, it happens to us all...Do what FP says also but don't get down on yourself because that will affect your game more than any bad beat will.
