I played poker for about 3 years from when i was 13 and i havent played for about 3 years since i stopped playing, i am going to deposit $1000 onto pokerstars and give poker a crack to see how i go just looking for advice on what blinds you think i should play. I have read a lot of poker books and have a lot of experience just curious to hear what you guys have to say

Deposit less and start no higher than 10nl (.05/10 blinds). You're unlikely to start out winning so you might as well do your learning on the cheap. If you do deposit $1000 I'd start no higher than 25nl.

if you haven't played in 3 years, start at the bottom.

deposit a small amount and leave the rest of your roll out so you don't move up imo, need to prove you can beat the micros over a decent sample before moving up.

40BI for 25nl isn't that bad.. although 100BI for 10 seems an ok point to start at.

The game has changed from 3 years ago, so it's optimistic to think you can jump back in and adjust enough to start winning at any level above the micros. Like Campbell92, I suggest you start at the bottom. As for moving up, since you're already rolled to do so, I'd focus more on how comfortable I feel about beating the opponents than on staying until my hand sample gets to a particular size. .

-bump-

did you bump for no reason?

but yeah, with AJ/(ArJ?) here.. and the fact you called them blinds instead of limits makes me think you haven't read too much.

read read and read some more before you start playing.

could do with taking that advice myself actually.

ok might give the low tables a go and see how i go, before i stopped playing i was playing 3 6 5 10 and a few 10 20 $ blind so i consider 0.50 1 small but will prob spend the first few weeks on the smaller blinds just so i can get use to the mind set of online poker again, thanks for your suggestions

if you not too sure, then use the 50 buy in rule until you get your feel wet again.

Were you playing limit or no-limit?

So you were just playing with horrible BRM before? To play $2Knl ($10/$20 blinds) you'd need a BR of AT LEAST $50K (double that to be mildly comfortable).

I found the higher stakes much easier than the low stakes, the players on the higher stakes for the most part were good players so i found you could use a lot more plays and strats to win hands and was a lot easier to get reads on players and get to know there games. I am not expecting to get up to those stakes anytime soon i just miss playing poker and enjoy the philosophy of it

So if you know all this... the question/title of your initial post seems odd:confused: (I mean wouldn't you know what to play more than anyone else... it is 'you' after all)
