Way to go, NFL!
Yesterday, Haley Hintze reported this in poker news:

NFL DROPS OPPOSITION TO ONLINE gambling BILL

Long-term chances for federal regulation of online gambling, including poker, received a boost recently when a former staunch opponent, the National Football League, dropped its opposition to legislation championed by US Rep. Barney Frank.

The NFL changed course after an amendment was added to the proposed bill by two New York Representatives, Republican Peter King and Democrat Gregory Meeks.

If passed, the amendment would specifically exclude online sports betting from being federally regulated and accepted. The NFL has maintained an official "zero tolerance" policy towards sports betting for decades.

i haven't been paying much attention to this lately. does it look like they are gonna get this done before congress turns over to the republicans or are we going to have to wait until the democrats regain control.

Very good news!

I think I heard 2012 for the bill to be completely finished. Don't quote me on that though.

Now if only Jay Leno would offer his support. Fat chance. He argued against the bill when Barney Frank was on his show a few weeks ago.
