When people start ranting and raving about others sucking out and this and that i sit back and think sto myself isnt it better to tell them nice hand? Dont you want them to make the same donkey play again? Next time they may not be so lucky. So just say nice hand and hope they do it again

It trips me out more the people that get bothered by whats in the chatbox than any reaction players have. I think everyone has gotten upset whether they chat it out or not, I enjoy the s#@$ talking especially when I play live. To be honest, poker especially in tournements gets boring I like a little added entertainment.

I usually just say "Nice."
I'm usually thinking of a scene in "Finding Nemo" where bubbles appear next to floating pelican #1, so floating pelican #2 assumes he farted and in response says "Nice" sarcastically before flying away in disgust.

If you really want to tilt them, just answer everything with "ty".

"wtf donk you called with 82o???"
"ty"
"that wasn't a compliment"
"ty"
"you're such a bad player"
"ty"
...

LMAO...or try JAJAJAJAJA. Works everytime.

I just played my first live tourney at a casino last week. It was a $40/$10 buy in at Bally's in Atlantic City. I had mentally prepared myself for some jerks but there were none. A couple of mouthy guys but they never crossed any line. Just fun banter that was meant to get reads. I really enjoyed it. :boxing: The best was when I reraised one guy after the flop and he started talking to me. I had to go Jesus Ferguson on him. Stoned faced I loved it. Especially when he folded.

It's fun to type chit every once in a while to blow off steam. I'm guilty of doing it and I don't care what the player thinks that I'm yelling at. It's therapeutic for me.

If the person is steaming and donking, make them feel at home as long as possible, until you have their stack. Then you congratulate them for a gg. And hope they rebuy. Then insult them once or twice to restart the cycle.

Have a heated conversation with an imaginary friend who's standing behind you.
Scares the hell out of people.

If I made a donkey call ( one that no self respecting poker player would make ) then I would expect to be told what a pratt I am.

Its all very well being nice, being polite, but when you get busted out of an MTT by some idiot who calls absolutely anything and everything and relies solely on luck and no poker skills whatsoever, then sorry, calling all ins with garbage and getting lucky isnt something that people should be congratulated for.

No one minds being beaten if your opponent beats you with a genuinely good hand, and one they have played well. What I do object to is idiots calling pre flop raises then further raises, having nothing in their hand, then getting lucky on the river and not only winning the hand but blowing your entire game and potentially your chance at getting into the money..

At a live table I wouldnt sit there and try to pretend that some donkey whos wiped out my stack by calling my all in raise with 5 2 off suit had a good hand, and I wont do it on the internet.

Sorry but I wont.

If you play like a donkey I will tell you that you are playing like a donkey.

Moral of the tale... dont play like a donkey then you wont have people calling you a donkey..

while we're on the topic of someone running their mouth off, I would like to hijack this thread.
I would first like to add that I don't really care if someone runs their mouth off because most times it's not me that they attack.
Now I have a question, Is it wrong to verbally attack a donkey if sharkscope has labeled them as "super tilt" when they suckout on you, just for the sheer pleasure of putting them on tilt?

the moral of the story was , don't call a donkey a donkey , you don't want to scare them off or change their play . you don't want them to tighten up after sucking out on you , you want your money back .

I agree. All of donks who responded differently are Probably the donks who suckout with garbage.

or are better players with more brains than mouth

I usually just say WHAT A JOKE or NICE CATCH... usually i'll add on with a little I'LL HAVE YOUR CHIPS SOON ENUFF IF YOU KEEP THAT UP or something along those lines. It's good for me to steam in the chat a little if I get whacked. Helps to calm me down a lot faster.

Also you guys act like calling someone a donkey is going to scare them off? Like it's going to hit them like a bag of bricks "OMG I AM A DONKEY I SHOULD STOP PLAYING!" Never going to happen.

To all you people saying you're not just going to sit there after some donk makes a horrible call to beat you: Do you even realize when you go off on one of your tirades that it's you that is tilting? You've extended the hand. You're letting the bad beat linger. Hell, you're wallowing in it.

If you don't say a word, you win.

lol that'd be hilarious. I actually used to do something like this:

"hold on a sec, gotta get my desk down, it's stuck to the ceiling again"

or

"dang, give me a sec, pet grizzly's loose again".

You only go on tilt if you allow yourself to go on tilt. Chatting a little bit and getting your feelings out is not going on tilt. I don't speak for everyone, but I'm completely capable of chatting it up for a few minutes and continuing to keep my focus on the game/games at hand.

I'd rather talk a little trash to the guy for a few min, say what I want to say, and be done with it than let it linger. Hell my chat is banned on Tilt for 3 months, but I still chat the same as I would. I just type it into the box then delete it. I know it's kind of strange, but it helps me.

Next time someone starts running their mouth

It should come as no surprise that some people out there are not serious about much at all. online poker is merely a vehicle for those individuals to display their utter disregard for themselves and for others. It is best to display as little emotion as is humanly possible when confronted with such a person, as doing so will only encourage them go further. Ignore them until you can't take it anymore, and then sit out if you must.

Actually, you completely contradict yourself.

Its because people take the game so seriously, that a bad beat hit them alot harder than actually those that dont seem to mind.

I dont mind admitting if I have a monster hand and raise heavily pre flop and some wassock calls me and sucks out with a hand that even the most amateur player would struggle to justify calling with, then I will let rip.

Its because I take the game too seriously that I get wound up.

Its people who call raises with hands that no person in their right mind would consider the best hand on the table that arent taking the game seriously.

As I said before. If people are going to make stupid calls, and in most cases laugh at you afterwards when they win, then they deserve to be told what I think of them...

Calling a pre flop raise with a hand like 8 3 off suit is quite frankly worthy of every bit of abuse you can muster up. Whether you win or lose the hand. They should get it either way. And even if I win the hand, if they've called with utter shite, then I will tell them they are stupid. And tbh thats hardly lying is it...

When I take a bad beat I don't speak to the person directly. I will usually just start a conversation with myself in the chat box about how big of a donk they are and I'll usually get some "lol" or "ha ha" out of it.

Then, I will continue to play with a bullseye on their chest. If I get a good hand I will make sure that I take the maximum I can take from them. Then, if I do, I can happily start another conversation to let them know how right I am.

I was in a freeroll on Full Tilt today. The ones with the huge fields that are open to everyone. Well it pops up on my screen when I am fully involved with another tourney on Carbon so I am not paying close attention. I do some raising with AK, 1010, 88 and get multiple callers and bad flops so now I am short. Well I start pushing more with marginal hands A x, Q10 sooted and win. I am calling raises I normally would not and raising the same. I lose a few small but win a few big pots. I get back to average and tighten up alittle well my play put the guy across the table from me on TILT. He did not notice that I had tighten up, he was stilling thinking about the time I sucked out on him 10 hands ago. I would raise and he would call regardless. I took him out a few hands later.

My point is maybe if he had let loose on me a little he would of relieved some pressure and got back to solid poker.
