I have now been playing these for about 2 months. Since I am retired and on disablitly I get to play at my leisure and spend about 6 hrs per day out here.

As with all gamblers, I thought I knew it all. I would do pretty good to about half way through a tourney, and then BAM!! Poof Gone.

Finally realized that there is a lot more then just getting good cards.
I guess my whole point is, the more you play the better you get. You get to see all the little tricks the pros use. When to go all in with Pocket AA and when to slow play them.

Of course starting out as a newbie it was always all in. Then I got burned enough times to figure out that there really are bad beat hands.
My last was in hand A 2 with a A A 2 flop. I went all in. one opponent called with a A Q. the turn card was a 10 and the river was the Q.:argh:
Still lots to learn.

Nothing to learn about the last hand you discussed you got all your chips in with the pure nuts! You played correctly!! Your opponent had 3 outs in 45 unseen cards you HAVE to take those odds!

I would need to know information about the hand before I could say.

If you were UTG and even if it was suited you should have folded right there. If you were on the button and it was suited and you only had to call the BB then it was the right call. Any raise and you should have been out.

Yes you would have flopped a monster. But there are times to go in with Ax suited and there are times you fold it. Any raise you fold preflop. If you only have to call the BB and are in a late position and the cards are suited make the call.

In the BB with out a raise any hand plays. In the SB even ax off can get to the flop assuming there is no raise.

If you deed play the hand preflop proper well, that's just poker. If you made a mistake preflop then well, you played against the odds.

One more disclaimer. If you know the table you can be a bit more crafty. Amoungnst strangers who you have no info on. Be careful with what ever you play.

AA vs j4 off still loses if the caller gets lucky. And yes. I had that happen to me. I played the hand right and got screwed by the river.

He said he didn't go all in until after the flop, where he had just caught an aces over deuces full house. The odds of making that full house on the flop from unpaired hole cards are 1088-to-1. Any player who doesn't get all of his money in the pot in that situation should be tarred and feathered.

His opponent also cannot be faulted for calling the all in. He flopped a set of Aces with a Queen kicker. The only things he had to fear were AA, AK, or the full house on the flop, which, as previously noted, is a huge longshot. Very luckily for him, he caught his Queen on the river and made the bigger boat. Both plays stand up well. It was just two monster hands having a wreck.

I'm gonna hafta agree with RammerJammer. You definately played it well. Sometimes the cards just don't go your way. Overall though the bad beats and lucky breaks usually balance out. You just hafta be patient

Hi - Now tell us what are you going to do next time? All in again? Bad beats like that can make a newbie gun shy. There is alot to learn. You will also learn that you can play for 6 hrs a day and get worse! YES worse. You'll also find out you get in slumps just like any baseball player. I've been in one for about a week, then last night I did a sit and go and got second. I realized that I need to play MY game because it works for me. Have fun...see you at the tables.

i normally throw away aces with low kickers depending on position they get u in lots of trouble.
but as u called it and hit the nuts u just got unlucky. dont let it stop u in future when u got a good hand.
if it wasnt for bad beats poker would be boring ;)
