Hello people

Been reading around this forum/site for about a week or so now. Quite exponentially, actually - find myself here more and more as times passes. Seem to always be on here while I'm playing on pokerstars just to distract me so that I can have the patience to wait for top hands.Anyway, something finally prompted me to actually register and make a first post.

It's rather embarrassing really, since everyone seems to be using this shorthand notation for their ranges, and for things like poker terms and notations I know it's best to track answers down as the question/explanation has probably already been gone over about a billion times. However, I don't seem to be able to look this one up because it's [number]/[number] like "15/9" or "23/10" or something, and it's proven quite hard for search engines to tackle.

So yeah, my question is, what do these expressions actually signify? Apologies for the long-ass way of putting it.

Thanks

These are numbers you get from a tracker/hud(Pokertracker 3 and Holdem manager beeing the leading brands) and indicate VPIP(volunterly puts $ in pot) and PFR(pre flop raise).
These huds display alot more stats but these are the most comonaly used.
So if some one is 60/5 we know he is a calling station that limps/calls alot.
A 21/19 would be a tight aggro player(atleast prf).

Hope this helps.

I believe what you are reffering to is VPIP/PFR. These are Voluntarily put money in the pot and pre-flop raise percentages. So if someone is a 23/12, that means that they enter the pot 23% of hands, and they raise preflop with12% of hands.

15/9 would mean that the person plays 15% of their hands and they raise 9% of their hands. Hold 'em manager and poker tracker 3 are programs that track these stats for us, because that would be really hard to do on our own.

Hello.
I'll give you an example. 16/10. 16 is the percentage of the time our opponent willing puts money/chips into the pot. The 10 bit means the percentage of the time he raises preflop. If I'm wrong then I'm sorry. 16 is vip and the 10 is pfr

Aha! Sweet, thanks all... Been using PT3 for a few days now, just getting used to it... Got 2395 hands on 10NL and I'm apparently 12/6. However, a couple of days ago I played 1.2k hands in 1 day and had only about 10 premium hands, so yeah...

Anyways, cheers
