I feel like a true MTT grinder now after just 2 days of tourney grinding (very high volume though). I'm far far too lazy to start a blog so I figured I'd record my progress here just to see how I'm progressing (or not). I'll start with today, the 25th of February:

$8.80+r (in for $24.80) ....................................... no cash
$22 deep stack .................................................(frustratingly) no cash
$1.10 CC event ................................................. no cash
$33 (have absolutely no collection of) ................... no cash
$11+r ..............................................................42/720, $76.32
$3.30+r (in for 9.30) .......................................... 342/3056, $26.26
$55 ................................................................ 122/1557, $101.20

I'm incredibly proud of 3/7 cashes, but unfortunately none of them got deep :(. In the $3 rebuyament AJo > my KK for my whole stack which was massive at the time. Barring a big cash a break even day is amazing let alone a marginal profit :).

edit: going for weekly stars tlb obv :).

I'm sure you already know this, and by no means am I trying to knock your game down a level, but its possible you could be on somewhat of a heater. In the future, it probably wnt be uncommon for you to go a week or two without a cash. 3/8 are good numbers, wish I could put those up. Just be sure you dont get in over your head. Taking the single shot at the high stakes tourney was fine, just dont make a habbit until youre properly rolled, or you've built up some money just to play one a week(say you play a sat. or a tourney just to get enough to play the million once a week). They way it looks now, you could be regularly playing the Sunday majors frequently

Well I figure I could play the sunday majors/coveted $100+r once my br reaches 10k fairly comfortably (notice I said once not if :)). I realise that doing so well is not normal and in the future I will most certainly have long slump periods of not cashing, but I'm not venturing into any tourneys over $30+3 (apart from the nightly 50k which is $50+5) so I can handle the variance I hope.

I never said that. Im a recretional player, but i make nice money, and conistant money doing it. Variance isnt as harsh, players are just as bad, your always deepstacked, your post flop skill matters, a bad beat dosnt bust out 5 hours of good play, etc.

I'd have to disagree with bad beat doesn't mean 5 hours of play wasted.

If you keep a big stack at the table and someone else also gathers a big stack, then you hit something like set of aces vs straight and you lose....then that can easily be 5 hours wasted. :p

I dunno, I've been grinding strictly SNG's around the $20 range (increasing buyin with increasing bankroll) for the past week and a half and have pushed a $150 b-roll up to over $1000. SNG's are essentially just plugging the situation into a formula almost and applying the proper pressure at the right time, knowing how to tighten up early and build a stack, and also the point where you hit push/fold area of play.

I played a few MTT's in that period and had a couple cashes but almost all of my profit has been from SNG's.
