Chocolate Lowers Blood Pressure
Chocolate contains an abundance of flavanoids--antioxidants that help widen arteries by stimulating the release of nitric oxide. Wider-arteries result in improved blood flow and lower blood pressure. But just how much chocolate should you eat? And will improvements in blood pressure translate into real protection from heart attack and stroke? A new study has some answers.

It doesn't have to be dark dark chocolate, but it does have to be dark. Milk chocolate does not have the same properties. And of course, you can't pork out on the chocolate. We're talking like an ounce or two at a time.

The insulin spike and subsequent crash from eating enough chocolate are downsides that should outweigh any trace flavanoid benefits.

Too bad there's always a flip side. :(

The blood pressure issue is important but even more important is the blood sugar issue. If you are to be at your best mentally at a poker table you need to keep your blood sugar reading between 120 and 135. This is a very tight range and hard to do but if you own a meter you can test and then very carefully target which foods or drinks to ingest.

If you want seriously decadent healthy chocalate try this:

Chocamaca™
Organic Chocolate Infused with Rainforest Botanicals

CACAO - Chocamaca's key ingredient
Daily intake of cacao provides a series of antioxidants that promote cardiovascular health. Many studies published in the past few years have revealed the health promoting properties of cacao, especially on the cardiovascular system. Daily consumption of cacao for one month was shown to significantly increase plasma levels of flavonoids and proanthocyanidins. The flavonoids found in cacao were shown to inhibit platelet activation, one of the main causes of stroke and cardiac infarction. Proanthocyanidins derived from cacao were shown to inhibit diabetes-induced cataract formation, possibly by virtue of their antioxidant activity. One study concluded that cocoa powder and dark chocolate favorably affect cardiovascular disease risk status by modestly reducing LDL oxidation susceptibility, and increasing serum total antioxidant capacity and HDL-cholesterol concentrations.

Infused with 11 powerful Rainforest botanicals
Chocamaca™ is more than a great tasting healthy chocolate. It contains eleven other unique ingredients to provide your body with an enjoyable source of concentrated nutrients from wild, whole foods. These powerful botanicals provide energy, boost your immune system, support a healthy heart and so much more. Here's what else you'll find in each delicious ball of Chocamaca:

Kiwicha – promotes good cardiovascular health
Maca – supports energy
Muira Puama – supports nervous system
Suma – supports hormonal balance
Camu Camu – provides high concentration of natural vitamin C
Blue Green Algae – helps boost your immune system
Catuaba – supports increased libido
Jatoba – supports endurance and overall strength
Fucus – helps stimulate lymphatic circulation
Bitter Orange – an aid to soothing stomach disturbances
Canela – provides invigoration

Now that's chocalate! (I sell this too - LOL)

I have been studying alternative treatments for several years now, and I know about properties of the Chocamaca & can barely wait to try them myself. Dale is so right about these amazing chocolates from the Amazon!:)

So, chocolate-blueberry-"herb" brownies seem to be your best bet for handling the bad beats. :)

I can visualize my poor mouse - all covered in dark chocolate. Icky, gunky wheel....

Of course if it improves my game I suppose I could be forced to eat dark chocolate :p:p

I just ate a choc bunny, I should be good for a bit. I also ate the strawberries. One of my girls dropped the blueberries by accident helping me with the groceries. Her favorite too, poor girl.

That depends on whether it was frozen or room temperature

Peperoni pizza is kind of a bad card food if playing online or live. I was playing live lat night and there was peperoni pizza and I have to say that this is a food that exudes a dangerous oil that does not belong on cards or keyboards.....although it as serious brain food

I found another one to avoid

I was preparing hot reuben sandwichs while playing poker and everything was going great until i added the thousand island dressing and discovered that their was no governor on the dressing bottle......my sandwich became an island in a sea of dressing

By the way its really becoming difficult to find a decent thousand island dressing
