Hi, I'm new to playing poker online. I have been playing real live tournaments for a few years now though, and am very confident in my ability.

I am starting on pokerstars, and thanks to college I'm only starting with a bankroll of 125. I'm hoping to get some tips on what blinds/cashgames would be best for me to build up my bank roll. I'm not looking to cash out quick; I am looking to increase my bankroll to play in higher tables.

Please don't say something like .01/.02 because I am looking for competitive play, just don't want to go in too short stacked.

Thanks in advance!!!

Not really sure what the tables are generally like. You obviously can't expect a serious game with .01/.02 or .05/.10; it is practically play money. Just looking for some opinions on where games actually start to get decent.

If your looking at cash games, you need to be looking at at least 200bb (preferably 300BB) for LHE, or at least 20 x buy ins (preferably (30-50) for NL.

The above figures are what I would consider minimum. The conservative you are with your roll the better imo. There are numerous threads that have been created with some excellent advice. Just do a search on bankroll and you will see them. Gl with this.

I would say play .1/.2 games coz you should be able to buy in for 4-5$. Then play x amount of hands and probably move up to .25/.50 when u have 250$ or so. I don't think you really have another option anyways... .25/.50 is going to leave you with little over 10 buy ins, which could certainly leave you shortstacked and yea i don't think there is any point in playing micro stakes with over 100$ br.

I wanted to see how far i could get with 10$ free gift at start on the site i play so started with .05/.1 then moved up to .1/.2 when i hit about 80$ and have about 50$ to go now before i hit 200$ and can play .25/.5. I want to have a BR of 1k and play 1$/2$ games eventually and anything beyond that i would just withdraw. Key is just to make sure you move SLOWLY...it will take you a while to build your BR but if you try and get it up quick you'll bust out most times. I've moved slowly...rarely played more than an hr a day and have moved from 10$ to 150$ in about a week so if you are careful you should be able to build 120 into quite a good Br.

I'd say enter the £3.25 SNG's. They are 45 players and are very competitive, not to mention it pays down to 7th and 1st place gets $42.

Very good tourneys.

Also, play some of the $5000 guaranteed tourneys, for a $5 buy in you can't go wrong.

And on that note...make sure you play VERY loose passive. Call everything, raise absolutely nothing and check/fold postflop and your br will be through the roof after a few days.

play 1c/2c. I know you didnt want to hear that but Bill Gates didnt start out with a net worth of $70 billion, he had to work his way up.
