The New Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow

Just watching coverage of this years ME, I'm really starting to like The Mouth. I could never stand him, but this new Power of Positive Thinking thing seems to be working out. I've heard the stories about his life in the past, some things he's gone through, and it seems like he's really got himself together now. At the end of this episode, he was wiping his teary eyes and I actually said in my dorm room "Cmon..." A few seconds later, talking about his deep run and how he didn't think it would be possible again, he said, "I love life." I think I just like seeing someone overcome some really tough stuff.

I agree, i like Mike. I have seen him get beat by some VERY VERY VERY bad beats. If you go on youtube you could probobly see some of them.
Heck, even the beat in wsop Main Event which sent him home was pretty bad.

Humberto Brenes is really the only poker player that I "can't stand".

OMG he is my favorite! I find him extremely entertaining. I have always liked mouth. I probably wouldn't hang out with him but did find him fun to watch on t.v.

Agree totally - he has suffered some terrible beats, but when he's on his game he is one of the best imo.

I feel the same way as the poster. I could never stand the guy, but hes new attitude is really starting to grow on me. Now Helmuth needs to follow in his foot steps and there wont be anyone left to me to dislike in the poker world.

I never like mike the mouth, but totally agree with the poster.....and now there is only 1 person in the poker world i can't stand and that is the person jayson745 stated, HELLMUTH.... I love when he gets busted out!!!!

Who would have thought that Mike would have a tender moment at the end of the tournament. He played well. He was still fired up and passionate, but no irate.
I've never played in a multi-day tourney, but I know at the end there has got to be an emotional release. Mike said he never thought he would make it that deep in the main event.
I have played with players that played with Mike and they said he was cool and entertaining.
Heck, I'll probably watch it again tonight.

I like the new Mike. Being obnoxious all the time must take a lot out of you. The new behavior is refreshing and I hope he stays that way.

I think that Hellmuth needs to take whatever meds that Matusow is on. It might help Phil's attitude and his poker game.

I agree... Mike is passionate and sometimes wears his feelings on his sleeve but i think he's been as consistant as anyone and playing solid poker. Hellmuth however is embarassing himself and the 11 WSOP bracelettes he wears. Can you imagine "Babe" Ruth whining and calling a pitcher an idiot when he throws a curve ball instead of a fastball... Or Michael Jordan calling an opposing coach stupid when they play the wrong defense? But yet this is Poker's alltime bracelette winner.... GROW UP

If there were no caracters in the game you might as well be watching paint dry. I would think that most who play Phil would take his antics in stride, trying to stroke that big ego and quitely take his chips with a smile.

Sometimes I don't really understand what Jamie is talking about, but I don't think he is offending anyone.

The whole "power of positive thinking, my card will come on the turn if I just think happy thoughts" thing makes me LOL. Hard.

Otherwise I've never really had a problem with Matusow - dunno what it is really. He's kinda always been a tragic clown. Good on him if he's feeling good about himself nowadays

This just reminded me, they didn't mention anything Humberto Brenes in the main event. the positive thinking seems like a load of bs.

I always found the old, crackhead Mike funnier and more interesting.

anyway. i liked the old mike and i like the new mike even more now. it's so great to see him playing so well.

Humberto had a pretty nothing series this year - think me might've only made one or two cashes over all the events?
