It seems like there is already some controversy coming from the first day of the wsop, as a lot of players are unhappy with the new cards. They are designed to be easier for players read their hole cards and make it tougher for others to see them. But apparently most of the trouble comes from reading the cards on the board, as the 6's and 9's are very hard to tell apart and have resulted in a number of players misreading their hands and losing chips.

There seem to be a lot of people upset about this, so I think it's a pretty safe bet that the cards will be changed sooner rather than later, and almost certainly before the Main Event in July. Hopefully anyone from CC planning to play in the WSOP won't have to deal with this issue!

Here is a picture of the new cards:

Perhaps the best part of this whole thing is that the cards also include the signature of Jeffrey Pollack, the WSOP Commisioner on the back of the cards, but his name is mis-spelled...classic!

lol, very interesting. I can see how it would be a good idea to tilt it small in the corner for looking but it prbly would be annoying to read board.

I found a picture, i can see how it would be a little difficult to tell when looking at them when first dealt, but there is no excuse to misread them on the board.

Yeah, once you can see the full card it is pretty obvious which is which.

But anyways, it looks like they are going to be changing the cards during the next break of Event #1, so no one should have to worry about it.

Yea, that is harsh. The 6 and the 9, look incredibly similar. At first glance I couldn't tell the difference between the two. But like misch said, there's still really no excuse to misread hands when you're involved in the pot.

I like them, other than the 6 and the 9 looking really similar they look pretty neat to me. I like the way they have the small number in the corner, makes it easier to just barley lift the corner of the card and read what you've got.

The biggest problem is that because they look so similar, folks will do a double take on any 6x or 9x hand. What a tell....Might as well mark em under that guys signature...

Brilliant! What idiot decided to put a 6 on the 9 card and a 9 on the 6 card? Probably the same idiot that introduced the All-in chip without telling the players it was there.

Why do people insist on changing things that no one has complained about

Unfortunately that is the human nature. Always looking to improve or make better where no change is required. :(

Although, tbh, I do kind of like the card face designs.

Indeed, I work with a woman who has a great truism posted above her desk. "A complex system evolved out a simple one which worked just fine".

Right, because they won't be selling both the new and used decks in the gift shop for $10-$15 bucks each and selling out before the WSOP ends. :)

Maybe they can sell them as collector's items because of the mis-spelling on the back. :p

What'll they try next? Cards in Braille, no doubt.

Scratch offs ! With secret codes, so the players will be playing that hand for a PAYING member of the audience.

Wow those cards look wierd. The only way I can tell the difference between the 6 and the 9 has to be the number of like suit there is on the card.
