Played live at the local club last night. $130.00 buy-in / freeze-out. 65 entries. First 3k, second 2k, third 900, fourth 400, fifth 200. Starting stack 10k.
First hour my stack got hammered getting out-kicked in big pot my Q to his K. Down to 1500 chips. Before dinner break back to 10k exactly.
Hours later and after bringing stack up to about 40k, with about 20 players left, played a hand against an opponent I was convinced was making a move on me, (wrong) got dusted and knocked down to one thousand chips. Had two antes left at 500 each. Next hand of course I’m all-in and won against 3 callers flopping trip 4’s. Stack improves to 7k. Very next hand, JJ—all-in. Three callers again, and flop set J’s and hold. Stack improves to 31k.
Long story longer, finished 5th with excellent bubble play, especially considering I was short stack at start of final table.
When knocked out 5th, blinds were 5 and 10k, with 1k antes. When bb hit me with 10k, pushed my last 25k in with 88. Huge stack the only caller of my bb, then also called my push, with 3-7. Spikes 3 on flop and 7 on river. If I win this hand who knows what may have happened. But didn't and was happy to get my money back, plus $70.00.
NEVER, NEVER, GIVE-UP
