I know you guys get sick of hearing bitching and whining, but I royally got screwed yesterday!I was playing the $100,000 tourn. on pokerstars yesterday(mainly because I placed in a qualifying tourn. the day before) and was playing pretty solid poker! When I got dealt pocket Q's in first position! I raised 3 times the big blind with one caller! Flop come 5,Q,J. I bet the pot because I had trips with only a straight draw and no flush draw to worry about. So the other guy goes all-in.I call clearly having the best hand!Well he turns over trip J's.So iam about to double up! Next card.rag. last card came up a J.Could not believe I lost with trip Q's to quad J's. I mean isn't that about a 44 to 1 shot to hit the last J in the deck. I just sat there staring at my sceen in disbelief! I was pissed the rest of the day!!

I'd have been happy enough with QQ in this situation!

No, I'm not a masochist, iPoker pays 100 small blinds as a bad beat bonus if you loose with AAAKK (or better).

That's a really! bad beat! I've had terrible! Beats AS well! So have we all! That was particularly bad though! And as much as! I hate! to say it!

It's poker. You played the hand correctly, got all your chips in the pot with the best hand, you can't get too angry.

OW, that's like a shot in the gut and in the groin at the same time (for both hand occassions). Sorry, but didn't mean to add insult to injury, but I do feel for you guys - that's just rough. It's good that you can relay those stories and vent here to prevent you from steaming/tilting more money away in other tournaments and cash games online.

There was a live tourney that I was dealing in, back in October, and we had a couple of all-ins with one player holding AA and another with KQ. The flop came out AJ10. Turn was a brick...but then I threw out the case A on the River. I felt so bad for the player that got trashed like that. I mean it wasn't even pairing the other cards for a full-boat, but the A for quads. Made me shudder and still does when I think back on it.

Yeah!I know I made the right play!I'm not upset with what I did,It's just that for a tight player to wait for hands and you finally get a winner and you still lose? That to me is the toughest beat of all!But it only cost me a couple of bucks instead of the regular buy-in, so I can live with it! Maybe it's me, but I have played this tourn. twice and have received my share of good hands that I could play with!Usually in the micro tourneys you are scraping and fighting with rags a lot of the time! That is where I have to play because of my small BR.

About a month ago I was dealt pocket aces. Flop comes A-K-K. I had no idea he had pocket kings when I pushed.

I was looking quite forlornly at those quad kings as the river turned up an ACE. WOW.

Luck swings both ways. We both played the hand right and the luck landed on my side.

He left the casino so fast, the floor guy hadda run after him with his sunglasses. Ha! :icon_sant

Sometimes it goes good too !!

I was playing in the $100,000 tourney on PokerStars and got dealt JJ
FLop comes 5-Q-J and some guy raised and I go all-in with the best hand, so I think. he has QQ !!! But don't dispair as my J hits on the river for Quads !!

(just kidding)

LOL! All right Duffer no one likes a wise ass!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to see I'm not the only one it happens to! I see it a lot in tourneys too!I'll be watching a hand and some poor guy gets sucked out on. I'm thinking "that sucked"!But then it happens to me and I'm cussing thinking something is rigged! I know it's part of the game,ESPECIALLY ONLINE,but it is hard to take sometimes! Seems like I'll do well in 1 tourney and get knocked out in 5.I would really like to know how you guys make your bankroll grow.Mine has been around $100 for about a month or so.Iusually play $1 sng's and the occasional micro ring game. Any advice would help!!!!!:D

Re: Need to Vent

Well, you just have to continue to play a solid game of poker and learn where you need to make your move in tournaments, not just to get in-the-money, but to win the whole thing. It isn't gonna happen if you wait forever and you can't push it all-in when you have next-to-no chips left in your stack, then you're gonna get callers since it won't put a dent in their stack. Changing gears is definitely something that I would recommend to get used to and this experience plus playing more poker in general would help too.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to post some hands in the analysis section to see what are the different plays that could've/should've been made, especially the ones that perplex or confuse you and have you asking: "Did I make the right play there?"

....I only wish that I could follow my above advice when I'm in the heat of the moment in a tournament! I was playing a couple of SnG's at PokerRoom and I essentially let myself get blinded out, because I was being patient, but too patient when cards weren't coming. I resorted to having to push when I only had about 2 passes of the button left and busted out.

Totally different way of building bankroll or at least starting bankroll, if you don't mind jumping to different sites and being registered at different sites, is to pick up initial deposit bonuses. I've been clearing a PokerRoom deposit bonus for Canadians and have been on the lookout if there's others that's intriguing. You just have to have enough time to clear the bonus dollars through playing, or else they expire and you can't claim them.

Hope that helps, in some way shape or form. Good luck on the tables!

Runner-runner treys gives him threes full of fours, gives you jacks full of threes. Leave the dog alone and scoop up your pot. (I think your story needs some work.)

Inventing a bad beat isnt going to get you any sympathy.

When will people finally realise that bad beats happen, its part of the game. If you hate them so much, dont play since they wont stop

kudos......pigpenaroni. I was wondering if anybody reads these bad beat stories and who would notice that first. Your prize.....there will be no money.....but at the poker tables you will have total consciousness.

I hear you DP.There is a time in a tourney when I definitely freeze up! It's in the middle when I have a decent amount of chips and all the bigger stacks are pushing! That is one of my weaknesses!I have to start pushing along with them.Because I usually end up blinding out or having to push all-in with a mediocre hand!
Switch,I know bad beats are going to happen and do!I have learned the percentage of suckouts!
Them sucking out on you-65%
You sucking out on them-45%!I am sure that the percentages are different for everybody!

3 things wrong with that.

1) 65+45 = 110, you cant have 110%

2) You cant measure something like that since some suckouts there may be 1 out, and others there may be 12 outs. Therefore unless you calculate total percentages all together no results can be concluded

3) if your sucking out 45% of the time, you need to learn how to not put your money in with the worst of it!!!

Wrong!

If you're sucking out 45% of the time you should play every hand. You'll win all the ones you're supposed to and half the rest. That's highly profitable.:)
