I just won a turbo satelite to something called "midnight madness" where 216 places are paid, and 1st gets 3,000, im not sure if i should go in this tourney or just keep my 10.45$. Right now I only have 55 in my BR so adding 10.45 will give me 65. Would you keep the 10... or play the tourney with the chance to win big???

There are around 1500-2000 people, at least. So its not as easy as you think to be ITM.

It depends on how you play your roll. The way that I think of it is, 'would you buy into the tournament with your roll at where its at? The 10 is a gurantee, yet you could win big. Word of advice, if you end up playing the tournament, don't be let down if you don't make the money.

imo take the $10. That is a 20% in on your BR. If you had $100,000 in your account and had to choose between guaranteed $20,000 or a 200 in 3000 shot at something bigger, what would you take?

This is all based on the assumption you are serious about building a bankroll. If you are serious, see above :)

Take the $10 !

This is a good boost to your BR and represents a 15% increase.

Sorry ! 18%.

Thanks for your help guys, I decided to keep the 11T (which is basically the same as 11 dollars) I figured that I am better off playing it safe. I am just going to keep on sticking to my plan to play 1 dollar buy in tourneys, and SNGS, thanks for the help!

I was....

In this kind of situation a while ago. Abit lees money though. I kept the buy-in and took the chance of putting it on a cash table leaving me with a deeper stack. The gamble paid off my bank roll raised and i cashed out and every one was happy, well i was lol

lol. always keep the cash or tournament dollars unless it is inside your brm.

i really don't understand this concept of satty'ing into a tourny to play it. you can satty to the tournament dollars and pocket it, simple.

if you win $10 and that is 20% of your bankroll, you can't just assume its good to let it ride on a tournament because you won $10. this is no different than say winning a $3 sng for $10 and then taking that $10 and putting it on a $10 sng but for some reason once the word "satty" is attached to it there is an underlying assumption you should always take your money and let it ride.

well, thats my opinion and fact rolled into one fwiw. gl.

Midnight Madness is one of the only tournaments on Fulltilt that has a 15% payout structure (all the rest are top 10% getting paid, except for the Daily Doubles (15%) and the Ferguson (15%), the $28Kguar. used to be top 15% but was changed back to top 10% like the rest of the $26buyin guar.).
BUT,.. every Tom, Donk and Harrietta try to play for the final table big prize money in the Mid.Mad. so you get a huge minefield of donks in it (similiar to a freeroll or $1 buyin mtt). Alot of flop pot-sized donk bets out of pos., tons of loose maniacs way over-valuing their hands, etc. etc. That tourney is full of them (the tv viewing poker newbie pros, lol).
BUT... you also get some very skilled 'regulars' as well,.. players who normally and regularly play in the higher buyins on Fulltilt so you get a big cross section of players. This can make it a bit difficult in earlier going as you might find yourself laying down the winning hand on more than one occasion but definitely helps to try to pick out the regulars (the ones who are most likely not entering very many pots in early going and when they do they've got very strong hands and play them quite aggressively).

I'd say that 'maybe' the tourney would be worth taking a shot at but I personally wouldn't do it till I had at least 20buyins in my account.

That $3 sat. sng that you entered and won,.. it too is a super donkfest. I played it for awhile to help build a bankroll as it is fairly easy to be ITM in it. I've suggested it to many people to play in if they're looking to build a bankroll with limited funds in their accounts to start off with. I was actually able to be ITM above 50% in those sat. sngs. If you feel comfortable in them, why not try playing them regularly and try to build up the bankroll a bit from them (the T$ can be used for entering any sng or mtt on Fulltilt). With a very tight sng strategy it can be easy to cash in them regularly (as you've already gotten a taste for).

This response is obviously coming a bit late but just some stuff to maybe consider. Oh yah.. and for those who suggested that you go ahead and play the M.M. for sure,... how are their bankrolls doing? Have they cashed in it?

GL in the next ones!!

Depends why you have money in the account. If you're looking to win money then stay in the tourney. If you're looking to play tons of hands and sit around playing poker, then take the money and play .05/.10 tables.
