Why not play freerolls to try improve? At the start, play is usually poor but later on some good play can be had. And you can make some money if you do well!

Playing in the play money area is not going to improve your game anywhere close to where you will need it to be once you jump to actual REAL currency poker.

Simple reason, how can you learn if you are playing against players who more or less have the same abilities as yourself.
To get better you need to play against better players so as to see how they are playing and learn from your experiences.

Oh, I forgot to mention something even more important for your game education, the key word is "Education" so you need to study...study...study and when you finish studying ....guess what?........ ya you will need to study some more........lol, Poker is a game that you will never know everything, it is a life long learning experience.

Also as previously mentioned, you can play for real money in freerolls which cost you nothing. There is no down side in playing freerolls if your only concern is losing your money.

Study more and play less so you will evolve much more, and will become a good profitable player.

I believe free play once you have the basics down is useless. People don't care if they win or lose they just shove in most cases

A waste of your time. Start playing in freerolls. This way you will get more development. Make a Deposit and play for real money.

Extremely poor advice telling someone who understands that they are not very goodat poker …………to make a depositand play for real money.
The only sensible advice is to direct them into learning the basics by studying the game and second to play in a bunch of freerolls where they are not risking losing their monies.
Shame on you!

I agree, freerolls are where it's at for people who don't want to play for real money. I always recommend ACR for their round the clock on demand freerolls.

I think a player entering any poker game already knows the basics. In the game of "playing chips" you will not learn how to build your strategy game. And when you switch to games for real money you will make a lot of mistakes and lose your stack and bankroll. These games are very different from each other. The player must initially prepare himself for poker games (reading, watching videos, training with friends, etc.) and then join the fight. Personally, I did so. And I'm not going to waste my time "playing chips". I play one and a half month at poker and significantly raised my bankroll with a Deposit of $20. A lot of experience comes in games the bounty, the bigger and other. Long tournaments teach smart action in poker. In cash games you generally get a lot of experience. In them you fight for real money and estimate the chances. Games "playing chips" and freerolls you risk nothing. Lost chips you can return in 4 hours. Freeroll tournaments is required for learning. I not against them and I play in them itself. And I don't see anything shameful about what I suggested. I wish you good luck.

I agree with you that you need practice, no matter how much you teach the theory, the reality is quite different. First you have to choose exactly what kind of poker you will play for cash tables or micro tournaments and concentrate only there. and the most important thing is not to jump as a beginner on different types and different tournaments but to focus on one. When you play only one you get used to, you know what you need to make a profit, and you always follow the right way.to get a little theory at first you will need to protect you from major mistakes
but the other is a practice to build your own style

if you an sufficiently experienced player you can play on real money (it gives you opportunity to choose game which suits you) , but if you haven`t had so much experience, then freerolls can be the good idea for you

I don’t have the slightest idea why you are directing your comments to my post.
As I had explained to this new member who believed he needed to play much more PLAY money games in order to get better in winning.
As I stated to him if you actually read my original comments was for him to STUDY STUDY STUDY the game and to jump into playing in Freeroll real money games, so as to not harm his personal finances.
As to my response to the post from BlackMamba who suggested in making a deposit and play for real money to a very new to poker player was a very Poor Recommendation in my opinion.
And my comment as to learning the basics by studying the game did not mean learning what hand beats what hand. If that is your understanding of the basics of poker, than maybe I should recommend a good poker book for yourself. I would be happy to assist. J

Yes, you can play more if you have money in the bankroll, and you can try to win even more money, but if it's not enough, then it's better to play tournaments with a small buy-in and try to raise the bankroll!

to start learning to play poker, the money games are not bad, but if you want to improve and jump level, start playing freeroll, and $$ tournaments and real low-money games, so you'll start playing with players of a better level, and your game will improve.
