I have been playing for around 3 years but have only been taking poker serious, as a way to make money, for around a year and a half. I was playing last night and a guy hit a turn card to take half of my stack, he had J 10 suited. He then made the comment suited connecters are money. Upon thinking about this comment the more I think this could be true. What do you guys think about this.

Eh...I think their okay if u can limp in and their decently high connectors, but often they're over rated. It depends on the situation...drawing to a straight flush is rare and drawing to a flush is all pot odds and card odds.

Well, you have hardly given us any information.

So all we can really say is that, yes, suited cons can win you money, but then so can pocket kings or seven deuce...............

don't forget pocket 2's

Oh man...I despise pocket 2s. I've been forced all-in with pocket AA once and ended up losing to trip 2s and the second time I raised two pair KK and QQ and got beat by trip 2s on the river. The agony was brutal.

Suited connectors can be great hands.... but you dont need to be calling raises with them.... the guy got lucky on you plain and simple, and that's all there is to it really. Now you can open raise with your suited connectors to help throw off your opponents... and if you hit the flop, hey they probably wont have a clue what you're betting. But you can also run into much bigger hands that what you want too... losing flush to flush with lower suited connects is going to happen... as well as losing lower straight to higher straight.... BE CAREFUL when playing them, and make sure you know you are winning when you put your money in with them

yea everyone pretty much nailed it.. Theyre good to try to chase some big hand.. i like to play them if there a couple limpers or a situation where if i hid my big hand ill get paid off alot.. im not really calling any big raises with them usually

The EV of that hand vs any random hand is roughly 64% plus EV against any random hand in a raisd pot it just goes down you be the judge
